Objectives
The course aims to provide a broad and in depth knowledge of the molecular techniques used in clinical research and applied to clinical diagnostics, with particular emphasis on those applied to the diagnosis and treatment of human genetic diseases. The student will also acquire a good practical knowledge of some of the laboratory techniques presented in the course work

CLASSICAL AND MOLECULAR CYTOGENETICS APPLIED TO THE PATHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS AND DIAGNOSIS OF HUMAN GENETIC DISEASES (10 H LESSONS + 6 H PRACTICAL EXCERCISE). DNA-BASED METHODS IN RESEARCH AND CLINICAL DIAGNOSTICS; DNA HYBRIDIZATION AND DNA AMPLIFICATION (14 H LESSONS + 12 H PRACTICAL EXCERCISE). DNA SEQUENCING-BASED METHODS FOR CLINICAL AND BASIC RESEARCH (4 H LESSONS + 4 H PRACTICAL EXCERCISE). INTRODUCTION TO FORENSIC MEDICINE (4 H LESSONS + 2 H PRACTICAL EXCERCISE).

Verification of learning
AT THE ORAL EXAMINATION THE STUDENT WILL BE EVALUATED ON THE BASIS OF THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED OF THE MAIN ARGUMENTS OF THE COURSE. HONORS MAY BE AWARDED TO STUDENTS WHO DEMONSTRATE IN DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF THE SUBJECT MATTER AND / OR KNOWLEDGE THAT GOES BEYOND THE BASICS OF THE COURSE WORK.
