Objectives
AT THE END OF THE COURSE STUDENTS HAVE:
A) TO KNOW THE MAIN STRUCTURES AND FUNCTIONS OF EUCARIOTIC CELLS, AND THE MECHANISMS RELATED TO THE MAINTENANCE, EXPRESSION AND TRANSMISSION OF GENIC INFORMATION;
A) TO KNOW STRUCTURAL ORGANIZATION AND FUNCTIONS OF ORGANS AND APPARATUSES THAT MAKE UP THE HUMAN BODY;
B) TO DISTINGUISH AND DESCRIBE ALL THE STRUCTURES INVOLVED IN HUMAN MOVEMENTS.

BIOLOGICAL MOLECULES: CARBOHYDRATES, LIPIDS, PROTEINS, NUCLEIC ACIDS. EUKARYOTIC CELLS: CELLULAR ORGANELLES AND THEIR FUNCTIONS. BIOLOGICAL MEMBRANES. DNA STRUCTURE AND ITS DUPLICATION. TRANSCRIPTION AND TRANSLATION.
BIOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF THE WATER. ACIDS AND BASES. PH, DIFFUSION, OSMOSIS. MEMBRANE TRANSPORT. MEMBRANE POTENTIAL AND MEMBRANE ACTION POTENTIAL. BALANCE OF FLUIDS: EXTRACELLULAR FLUID AND INTRACELLULAR FLUID.

ORAL EXAM. STUDENTS HAVE TO KNOW, THE STRUCTURE AND THE MAIN FUNCTIONS OF ANIMAL CELLS AS WELL AS THE MAIN FUNCTIONS OF THE HUMAN BODY. IN ADDITION, STUDENTS HAVE TO USE CORRECTLY THE ANATOMIC TERMINOLOGY AND KNOW THE BONES AND MUSCULAR STRUCTURES RESPONSIBLE FOR HUMAN MOVEMENTS.
