Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE KNOWLEDGE OF SOME OF THE MOST SIGNIFICANT ASPECTS OF SPANISH LITERATURE AND CULTURE THROUGH THE ANALYSIS OF LITERARY TEXTS BELONGING TO DIFFERENT GENRES (POETRY, NOVEL AND THEATRE). BY THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO RELATE THE LITERARY TEXTS TO THEIR CULTURAL CONTEXT AND TO APPLY DIFFERENT CRITICAL METHODOLOGIES TO DIFFERENT TEXTS. THEY WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE MATERIAL BOTH IN ITALIAN AND IN SPANISH.
Prerequisites
STUDENTS MUST HAVE PASSED THE FIRST-YEAR SPANISH LANGUAGE AND SPANISH LITERATURE EXAMS.
Contents
THE COURSE IS MAINLY ABOUT THE GOLDEN AGE PERIOD, WITH SPECIFIC ATTENTION BEING PAID TO PICARESQUE NOVEL, CERVANTES, THE COMEDIA NUEVA AND POETRY FROM 1580 TO THE END OF THE XVII CENTURY.
Teaching Methods
LECTURES (45 HOURS). ALTHOUGH NOT FORMALLY MANDATORY, ATTENDANCE IS HIGLY RECOMMENDED.
Verification of learning
ORAL FINAL EXAM.
THE EVALUATION CRITERIA WILL BE:
A) CAPACITY TO SPEAK FLUENTLY CORRECTLY AND CLEARLY IN ITALIAN AND PARTLY IN SPANISH
B) CAPACITY AT PRESENTING AN ARGUMENT COHERENT WITH THE COURSE TOPICS
C) CAPACITY OF RECOGNIZING LITERARY MOVEMENTS AND TEXTS WITH A GOOD ANALYSIS OF THEIR ORIGINAL THEMATIC AND FORMAL ASPECTS
