Objectives
THE COURSE OF NOTIONS OF BIOCHEMISTRY, BIOLOGY AND MICROBIOLOGY IS ARTICULATED IN 3 DIDACTIC MODULES.
AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL HAVE TO KNOW THE STRUCTURE OF CELLS AND OF THE MAIN MOLECULES OF BIOCHEMICAL INTEREST. ALSO SHOULD HAVE LEARNED THE BASIC PRINCIPLES OF BIOENERGETICS FOR THE STUDY OF CELLULAR METABOLISM. IN ADDITION, THE NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE ON THE PROCESSES AND ON THE AGENTS WHICH CAUSES INFECTION IN HUMANS WILL BE ACQUIRED.
AT THE END OF THE COURSE AND FOR PASSING THE EXAM, THE STUDENT SHOULD DEMONSTRATE:
1. TO HAVE REACHED A KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ABOUT THE MAIN BIOLOGICAL MOLECULES THAT ALLOWS TO SET THE ANALYSIS OF THEIR FUNCTION IN PHYSIOLOGICAL AND PATHOLOGICAL CONDITIONS
2. BEING ABLE OF ANALYZING, DISCUSSING AND PERFORMING CORRELATIONS ON SIMPLE DATA OR HYPOTHESIS
3. TO COMMUNICATE IN CORRECT ITALIAN LANGUAGE AND WITH APPROPRIATE SPEAKING THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
4. TO KNOW HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH THEIR PEERSIN A CRITICAL MANNER ON CERTAIN TOPICS STUDIED DURING THE COURSE AND TO SUPPORT INTERDISCIPLINARY ARGUMENTATIONS
5. TO KNOW HOW TRANSFER THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED TO THE CLINICAL PRACTICE.
Prerequisites
THE STUDENT MUST HAVE ACQUIRED BASIC KNOWLEDGE IN THE FIELD OF BIOLOGY AND CHEMISTRY PROVIDED BY NORMAL HIGH SCHOOL CURRICULA.

Verification of learning
THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE TEACHING OBJECTIVES IS CERTIFIED BY PASSING AN EXAM WITH A WRITTEN AND ORAL EXAM WITH AN EVALUATION IN THIRTIETHS. THE TEST, AS A WHOLE, MAKES IT POSSIBLE TO ASCERTAIN BOTH THE CAPACITY FOR KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING, AND THE ABILITY TO APPLY THE SKILLS ACQUIRED, BOTH THE ABILITY TO EXHIBIT, AND THE ABILITY TO LEARN AND DEVELOP SOLUTIONS INDEPENDENTLY. ALL THE PROFESSORS WILL PARTICIPATE IN THE OVERALL COLLECTIVE ASSESSMENT OF THE STUDENT'S PROFIT.
