THE COURSE HAS AS OBJECTIVE THAT ONE TO INTRODUCE TO THE STUDENTS THE MAIN COMPUTER SCIENCE METHODOLOGIES THAT CAN BE USED TO SUPPORT THE TYPICAL ACTIVITIES OF THE HUMANISTIC WORLD THAT IS
TECHNIQUES ABLE TO PROVIDE AN ADDED VALUE TO THE NORMAL WORKFLOWS IN THIS FIELD

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO KNOW ABOUT:
-THE MAIN METHODOLOGIES AND ADVANCED TECHNIQUES FOR THE COLLECTION, ANALYSIS AND MANAGEMENT OF LINGUISTIC DATA, WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO DATABASES;
-THE COMPUTER ENVIRONMENTS USED IN NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSING THAT ALLOW THE AUTOMATION OF PROCESSES SUCH AS, FOR EXAMPLE, THE AUTOMATIC CLASSIFICATION OF TEXTS, THE CONSTRUCTION OF ANNOTATED LEXICONS, THE SUPPORT OF AUTOMATIC TRANSLATION OF TEXTUAL CONTENT AND THE EXTRACTION OF SEMANTIC INFORMATION FROM SYNTACTIC CONTENT.
-NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSING TECHNIQUES BASED ON STATISTICAL-PROBABILISTIC APPROACHES AND TOOLS FOR MANAGING AND ORGANIZING INFORMATION SUCH AS THE XML LANGUAGE (MARKUP METALANGUAGE) THAT ALLOWS TO DEFINE AND CONTROL THE MEANING OF THE ELEMENTS CONTAINED IN A DOCUMENT OR IN A TEXT
-THE MAIN METHODOLOGIES AND TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE PRODUCTION AND USE OF MULTIMEDIA CONTENT IN DIGITAL FORMAT

APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
-USE THE MAIN COMPUTER TOOLS IN THE SPECIFIC AREAS OF COMPETENCE;
-USE THE MOST WIDESPREAD AND COMMON SYSTEMS FOR LABELING LINGUISTIC UNITS AT ALL LEVELS OF ANALYSIS AND THE COMPUTER TOOLS DEDICATED TO THEM; - MASTER THE MAIN TECHNIQUES FOR AUTOMATIC NATURAL LANGUAGE PROCESSING;
-CONTROL THE MAIN TECHNIQUES FOR THE AUTOMATIC PROCESSING OF NATURAL LANGUAGE. IN PARTICULAR,, DEPENDING ON THE PROBLEMS TO BE ADDRESSED, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO SELECT THE RIGHT METHODOLOGIES TO BE APPLIED.
-UNDERSTAND THE FUNCTIONAL PARAMETERS ASSOCIATED WITH MULTIMEDIA PRODUCTIONS AND TO USE THE MAIN APPLICATIONS ON THE MARKET THAT SUPPORT THE PROCESS OF CREATING MULTIMEDIA ARTIFACTS

MAKING JUDGEMENTS
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
-FILTER AND SIFT THE DATA IN HIS POSSESSION AND TO ELABORATE REFLECTIONS AND CRITICAL CONSIDERATIONS IN THE DIFFERENT AREAS OF HIS COMPETENCE;
-FORMULATE HIS/HER OWN EVALUATION AND/OR JUDGMENT ON THE BASIS OF THE INTERPRETATION OF THE INFORMATION AVAILABLE IN THE FIELD OF COMPUTER SCIENCE AND COMPUTERS.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS
STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO:
-APPLY THE NEW INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY METHODOLOGIES RELATED TO ARCHIVING AND DIGITIZATION SYSTEMS OF DOCUMENTS, BOTH IN THE FIELD OF CULTURAL HERITAGE AND IN THE BUSINESS ENVIRONMENT

Teaching Methods
THE COURSE INCLUDES THEORETICAL LESSONS AND CLASSROOM EXERCISES. DURING THE ASSISTED CLASSROOM EXERCISES, STUDENTS WILL BE ASKED TO DEVELOP, INDEPENDENTLY OR IN SMALL GROUPS, SUMMARY EXERCISES ON THE THEORETICAL ARGUMENTS PREVIOUSLY INTRODUCED.

THE METHOD OF RESOLUTION CONSISTS IN THE UNDERSTANDING OF THE PROBLEM, IN THE PLANNING OF THE SOLUTION, AND FINALLY IN THE RESOLUTION. THIS LAST PHASE PROMOTES THE ABILITY TO EVALUATE THE REASONABLENESS OF THE ANSWER AND TO VERIFY THE COHERENCE WITH THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF COMPUTER SCIENCE.
Verification of learning
THE EVALUATION OF THE STUDENTS WILL BE DECLINED THROUGH THE FOLLOWING PHASES:
- EVALUATION OF THE STUDENT'S ABILITY TO DESIGN AND IMPLEMENT MULTIMEDIA CONTENT: STUDENTS WILL BE DIVIDED INTO WORKING GROUPS OF NO MORE THAN THREE PEOPLE, AND WILL HAVE TO DOCUMENT AND DEVELOP, IN ALL ITS PHASES, THE DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A MULTIMEDIA ARTIFACT.
- EVALUATION OF THE STUDENT'S ACQUISITION OF THE THEORETICAL ARGUMENTS: THE STUDENT, AFTER THE DELIVERY OF THE PROJECT, WILL HAVE TO SHOW THAT HE/SHE HAS ACQUIRED SKILLS ON THEORETICAL ARGUMENTS THROUGH A WRITTEN TEST CONSISTING OF MULTIPLE CHOICE QUESTIONS AND AN ORAL TEST IN WHICH THE PROJECT WILL BE DISCUSSED.

THE FINAL GRADE, EXPRESSED IN THIRTIETHS WITH POSSIBLE HONORS, WILL DEPEND ON THE OVERALL MATURITY ACQUIRED ON THE CONTENTS OF THE COURSE.

IT WILL TAKE INTO ACCOUNT:
- THE QUALITY OF THE EXPOSITION, IN TERMS OF THE USE OF APPROPRIATE SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE
- THE ABILITY TO CROSS-REFERENCE THE VARIOUS TOPICS OF THE COURSE AND, WHERE POSSIBLE, WITH OTHER DISCIPLINES
- THE AUTONOMY OF JUDGMENT DEMONSTRATED
THE OVERALL ASSESSMENT IS OBTAINED, AS A RULE, AS THE AVERAGE OF THE WRITTEN TEST AND THE ORAL TEST.
