Objectives
The Tomography 3 course is divided into three teaching modules: CT and MRI (abdomen-pelvis-musculoskeletal), Gastroenterology, Technical-Methodological Aspects of the Integrated Course. The course aims to encourage the acquisition of theoretical knowledge regarding the principles and methodological aspects of diagnostic imaging procedures in the abdomen-pelvis area and the musculoskeletal system, and the main gastroenterological pathologies.
Knowledge and understanding
- Knowledge and understanding of the main gastroenetrological pathologies
- Knowledge and understanding of the theoretical and methodological aspects of tomographic methods (CT and MRI) of the abdomen-pelvis district and the musculoskeletal system
Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
- Ability to use the main tomographic equipment in the study of the abdomen-pelvis district and the musculoskeletal system
- Ability to apply procedural methodologies in the study of the abdomen-pelvis district and the musculoskeletal system
Transversal skills
- Ability to update through bibliographic tools
Prerequisites
IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND AND KNOW HOW TO APPLY MOST OF THE TOPICS COVERED IN THE COURSE, IT IS NECESSARY TO HAVE PASSED THE PREPARATORY TOMOGRAPHY EXAM I
Contents
The teaching is divided into 3 modules: Gastroenterology with 1 CFU, CT and MRI (abdomen-pelvis-musculoskeletal) with 3 CFU, Tomographic Methodologies with 2 CFU. The course includes 72 hours of lessons in which the following topics will be addressed:
Gastroenterology
- diseases of the esophagus: esophagitis, diverticula, gastroesophageal reflux disease, achalasia
- diseases of the stomach and duodenum: gastritis, gastroduodenal, peptic ulcers, gastric cancer
- small bowel diseases: celiac disease, angiodysplasia, Crohn's disease
- colon diseases: ulcerative colitis, diverticulosis and diverticular disease, colon cancer
- liver and biliary tract diseases, acute and chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, cholelithiasis, biliary tract cancer
- pancreatic diseases: acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic cancer
CT and MRI
- Notions of Computed Tomography
- Acute abdomen: when and why CT
- CT study of the liver and pancreas
- CT study of the urinary system and notions of anatomy
- Principles of Magnetic Resonance
- The study of the prostate in Magnetic Resonance
- Colangio RM
- Magnetic resonance imaging of the knee
- Magnetic resonance imaging of the shoulder
- Magnetic resonance imaging of the joints
- Muscle-Tendon ultrasound
Methodologies
- Liver and biliary tract CT study; of the spleen; of the pancreas; of the adrenals; of the gastric system (esophagus, stomach and duodenum); in the small intestine; of the colorectal; of the peritoneum and retroperitoneum; of the kidneys and urinary tract; of the female genital system; CT during pregnancy; of the prostate and scrotum; of the shoulder; of the elbow; of wrist and hand; of pelvis and hip; of the knee; of ankle and foot;
- MRI study of the liver; of the biliary tract; of the pancreas; of the adrenals; of the kidneys; of the bladder; of the female pelvis; of the male pelvis; of the small intestine; of the colon; of the rectum; of the peritoneum and retroperitoneum; of the shoulder; of the elbow; wrist and hand; pelvis and hip; of the knee; ankle and foot; Defecography-MRI
Teaching Methods
TEACHING THROUGH ADES, INTERNSHIPS, SEMINARS AND SMALL GROUP MEETINGS, WILL ALLOW TO VERIFY THE STUDENT'S ABILITY TO RESOLUTE SPECIFIC CLINICAL PROBLEMS, TO INDICATE THE INDICATIONS FOR THE INSTRUMENTAL APPROACH, AND THE GENERAL TREATMENT LINES
Verification of learning
THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE TEACHING OBJECTIVES IS CERTIFIED BY PASSING AN EXAM WITH A RATING OUT OF THIRTY. THE TEST AS A WHOLE ALLOWS YOU TO ASSERT BOTH THE ABILITY TO KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING, AND THE ABILITY TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED SKILLS, THE ABILITY TO EXPOSE, AND THE ABILITY TO LEARN AND DEVELOP SOLUTIONS IN INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT. GENERALLY THE EXAM STARTS WITH A SMALL CLINICAL CASE TO TEST THE STUDENT'S ABILITY TO ORIENTATE. The teachers in charge of the coordinated modules participate in the overall collegial evaluation of the student's performance.
