EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES AND SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED: STUDENTS ARE EXPECTED TO LEARN THAT THE ARCHITECTURAL PROJECT IS CONSTITUTED AS A SPATIAL QUESTION; TO ACQUIRE THE ABILITY TO READ AND UNDERSTAND SPACES IN RELATION TO USE, TO THEIR RELATIONSHIPS WITH THE HUMAN BODY, AND TO THE PATHS FRAME; TO ACQUIRE THE ABILITY TO COMPOSE SPATIAL SEQUENCES; TO ACQUIRE THE ABILITY TO CONTROL SIMPLE FUNCTIONAL CHARACTERIZATION PROJECTS; TO ACQUIRE SKILLS IN WORKING THROUGH GEOMETRIC AND PROPORTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS; TO ACQUIRE THE ABILITY TO REPRESENT SPATIAL SOLUTIONS THROUGH THE USE OF DRAWINGS AND MODELS. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: KNOWING REFERENCE PROJECTS IN RELATION TO THE CONSIDERED SPATIAL THEMES AND ISSUES. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: KNOWING HOW TO DESCRIBE AND REPRESENT SPATIAL SOLUTIONS THROUGH BASIC DRAWINGS (PLANS / SECTIONS / PLANS) AND MODELS. JUDGMENT AUTONOMY: KNOWING HOW TO CONTROL SCALE AND PROPORTION RATIOS. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: KNOWING HOW TO WORK IN A TEAM AND ORALLY AND GRAPHICALLY EXHIBIT AND DISCUSS ARCHITECTURAL SOLUTIONS. ABILITY TO LEARN: KNOWING HOW TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE |
Prerequisites | |
---|---|
A BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE HISTORY OF ARCHITECTURE AND ARCHITECTURAL DRAWING AND SURVEY. IT IS ALSO VERY USEFUL THAT STUDENTS HAVE A BROAD GENERAL CULTURE, IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND AND DEEPEN THE LINKS BETWEEN THE ARCHITECTURE AND OTHER ARTS (LITERATURE, VISUAL ARTS AND PLASTIC, MUSIC, PHOTOGRAPHY, CINEMA) AND OTHER SOCIAL PHENOMENA. PROPEDEUTICITY: DRAWING. |
Contents | |
---|---|
THE SCIENTIFIC-DISCIPLINARY CONTENTS OF THE COURSE REFER TO THE PRELIMINARY FEATURES OF THE ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN AS A PROCESS AND A MOMENT OF SYNTHESIS OF A PLURALITY OF ASPECTS: FORMAL, FUNCTIONAL, TECHNICAL, HISTORICAL, CULTURAL, ENVIRONMENTAL. THEY ARE ARTICULATED IN METHODOLOGICAL ASPECTS, CONCERNING HINTS TO THEORIES OF CONTEMPORARY ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN, AND ANALYTICAL AND PRACTICE MATTERS, FOR A LARGELY PRELIMINARY STUDY OF THE DISTRIBUTIVE, TYPOLOGICAL, MORPHOLOGICAL, LINGUISTIC CHARACTERS OF ARCHITECTURE AND OF THE CITY AND THE – COMPOSITIONAL ISSUES, CONCERNING THE AGGREGATIVE AND FORMAL LOGIC WITH WHICH A BUILT ORGANISM DEFINES ITSELF IN ITS ELEMENTS AND PARTS AND RELATES TO ITS CONTEXT. THE CONTENTS ALSO INCLUDE SCHEMES FOR ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN FOR THE SOLUTION OF SPECIFIC THEMES RELATED TO NEW OR BUILT INTERVENTIONS. THESE CONTENTS INCLUDE BOTH TRADITIONAL LESSONS AND PROJECT EXERCISES, WHICH ARE DONE UNDER THE GUIDE OF THE TEACHER. THE COURSE IS DIVIDED IN TWO DIFFERENT MODULES - EACH COINCIDENT WITH A SEMESTER - BUT STRICTLY INTEGRATED ONE WITH EACH OTHER. THE FIRST MODULE - WHICH CORRESPONDS 6 ECTS - REGARDS: DEFINITIONS OF ARCHITECTURE AND ELEMENTARY CONCEPTS OF ARCHITECTURAL COMPOSITION (1 ECTS) BASIC THEORETICAL PRINCIPLES OF ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN (1 ECTS) CONCEPT OF DWELLING ACCORDING THE CURRENT SOCIAL NEEDS (1 ECTS) TYPOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF THE ARCHITECTURE DESIGN (1 CFU) ELEMENTARY SPACE-FUNCTIONAL CRITERIA (1 ECTS) THE CONTRIBUTION OF ITALIAN ARCHITECTURAL CULTURE TO ARCHITECTURE OF THE SECOND NINTH CENTURY (1 ECTS) THE SECOND MODULE - WHICH CORRESPONDS 6 ECTS - REGARDS: THE SPACE OF ARCHITECTURE: THEORETICAL AND INTERPRETATIVE PROBLEMS, INTRODUCTION TO EXPERIMENTATION (1 ECTS ); READING OF PROJECTS (FROM HISTORY, FROM THE MODERN AND FROM THE CONTEMPORARY TIME) WITH THE AIM OF INTERPRETING THE SPATIAL RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE SCALE OF THE BODY AND THAT OF THE SPACES (1 ECTS ); EXTRAPOLATION, THROUGH A WORK OF DECONSTRUCTION, OF SOME SPATIAL SOLUTIONS OF THE CHOOSEN PROJECTS, IDENTIFYING THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN SURFACES, BETWEEN FULL AND EMPTY SPACES AND THROUGH THE RELATIONSHIP WITH THE HUMAN BODY (1 ECTS ); GENERATION OF NEW SPACES, THROUGH A WORK OF MANIPULATION OF THE ELABORATED MODELS (1 ECTS); DEFINITION OF SPACES IN RELATION FUNCTIONS AND IN RELATION TO A SPECIFIC SITE (1 ECTS); DEVELOPMENT OF THE PROJECT BY MEANS OF DRAWINGS AND SOLUTIONS WITH DIFFERENTIATED SCALES (1 ECTS). |
Teaching Methods | |
---|---|
THE EDUCATIONAL METHOD PROVIDES A COMPLEMENTARITY BETWEEN THEORETICAL DEEPENING AND THE PROJECT EXPERIMENTATION. THE 6 ECTS OF THE FIRST DIDACTIC MODULE CORRESPOND TO 60 HOURS OF FRONTAL LESSONS; OF THESE, 24 ARE CONSTITUTED BY LESSONS EX CATHEDRA (CONDUCTED BOTH WITH A TRADITIONAL METHOD AND WITH A HEURISTIC METHOD), AND THE REMAINING 36 ARE CONSTITUTED BY EXERCISES AND LABORATORY ACTIVITIES IN WHICH EACH STUDENT MAKES, UNDER THE GUIDE OF THE TEACHER, ONE OR MORE PROJECT EXERCISES, WHOSE DIFFICULTIES ARE COHERENT TO THE CONTENTS AND OBJECTIVES OF THE COURSE. THESE PROJECT EXERCISES INCLUDE ALL THE CONTENT OF THE COURSE AND ARE NECESSARY TO THE ACQUISITION, AS WELL AS THE ABILITY OF DESIGNING A BUILDING OR A SIMPLE URBAN SPACE, EVEN TO DEVELOP AND STRENGTHEN THE ABILITY OF WORKING IN TEAMS. DURING THE EXERCISES A SUFFICIENT TIME IS INTENDED FOR THE CRITICAL REVISIONS OF THE PROJECT WORKS, WHICH ARE PUBLIC AND REPRESENT A DECISIVE STEP OF THE EDUCATIONAL PROCESS. |
Verification of learning | |
---|---|
_NUMBER AND TYPE OF EXAMINATIONS COMPETING TO THE FINAL EVALUATION: THE EVALUATION OF THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE PREFIXED OBJECTIVES IS CARRIED OUT AT THE END OF EACH SEMESTRAL MODULE, BY AN ORAL EXAM AND THROUGH THE DISCUSSION OF THE PROJECT DOCUMENTS, ON THE ARGUMENTS OF THE COURSE. THEREFORE THE FINAL ASSESSMENT IS ACHIEVED BY MEANS OF TWO DISTINCT TESTS, EACH OF THEM IS CONSTITUTED BY AN ORAL EXAM ON THE LESSONS MATTERS AND A DISCUSSION ON THE PROJECT EXERCISES WORKS. _OBJECTIVES OF INDIVIDUAL TESTS: IN ORAL EXAM THAT IS CARRIED OUT AT THE END OF EACH SEMESTRAL MODULE, THE OBJECTIVE IS TO CHECK EFFECTIVE ACQUISITION OF THE CONTENT OF THE COURSE. EACH STUDENT HAS TO DEVELOP OF A PERSONAL SPEECH AND USE AN APPROPRIATE TERMINOLOGY. DURING THE DISCUSSION ON PROJECT WORKS, WHICH CAN ALSO BE HELD IN THE SAME DAY OF THE ORAL EXAM, THE OBJECTIVE IS TO CHECK THE CAPACITY OF THE STUDENTS TO TRANSFORM THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE IN ABILITY TO ACT BY A CONVINCING SYNTHESIS BETWEEN THE "KNOWLEDGE" AND THE " KNOW-HOW". THE EVALUATION DURING THE TEST IS NOT FOCUSED ON THE QUALITY OF THE "PRODUCT" REALIZED DURING THE DESIGN EXERCISE, BUT ON THE QUALITY OF THE "LEARNING PROCESS" DEVELOPED BY THE STUDENT AND DEMONSTRATED IN THE DISCUSSION. _DURATION OF THE TEST: EACH ORAL EXAM AND EACH DISCUSSION ABOUT THE PROJECT WORKS DOESN’T LAST LESS THAN THIRTY MINUTES. _FINAL MEASUREMENT OF THE TEST RESULT: IN ORAL EXAM FOLLOWING ASPECTS WILL BE EVALUATED: -SPEECH QUALITY, IN TERMS OF USING AN APPROPRIATE AND COHERENT LANGUAGE IN RELATION TO THE DISCIPLINARY SCIENTIFIC TOPIC; -ABILITY TO DEVELOP INTERACTIONS BETWEEN THE DIFFERENT ISSUES OF THE COURSE AND, WHERE POSSIBLE, WITH OTHER DISCIPLINES; -JUDGMENT AUTONOMY; -QUALITY OF PARTICIPATION OF THE STUDENTS DURING THE EURISTIC LESSONS, VALUABLE BY THE TEACHER THROUGH THE RELEVANCE OF THE QUESTIONS SUGGESTED BY THE STUDENTS AND THEIR CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE COLLECTIVE DISCUSSION. IN THE DISCUSSIONS ABOUT THE PROJECT WORKS FOLLOWING ASPECTS WILL BE EVALUATED: -COMPLETENESS AND CLARITY OF THE ELABORATES; -COHERENCE OF THE ELABORATES WITH THE TOPICS OF THE LESSONS AND THEIR PERTINENCE IN RELATION TO THE INDICATIONS PROVIDED DURING THE EXERCISES; -DIALECTIC ABILITY OF STUDENTS IN EXPLAINING THEIR DESIGN CHOICES. EVENTUAL “LAUDE AND DISTINCTION” WILL BE GIVEN IF ALL THE PREVIOUS REQUIREMENTS HAVE BEEN EXPRESSED EXCELLENTLY BY THE STUDENT. |
