Objectives
THE COURSE OBJECTIVES ARE: A) TO HELP STUDENTS BROADEN AND CONSOLIDATE THEIR ABILITY TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES IN SPANISH; B) TO LEAD STUDENTS TOWARD A REFLECTION ON THE GENERAL FEATURES OF SOME SPECIALISED LANGUAGES AND COMMUNICATION IN PROFESSIONAL CONTEXTS;
C) TO ENABLE STUDENTS TO EXPLORE THE PROBLEMS OF TRANSLATION BETWEEN SPANISH AND ITALIAN IN A PRACTICAL WAY; D) TO GUIDE STUDENTS TOWARD A REFLECTION ON TRANSLATION ISSUES; E) TO
ENABLE STUDENTS TO HANDLE CONFIDENTLY THE DIFFERENT MATERIALS AVAILABLE FOR THE STUDY OF SPANISH. BY THE END OF THE COURSE, STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO DEAL CONFIDENTLY WITH
PROFESSIONAL COMMUNICATIVE SITUATIONS AS WELL AS SOCIAL AND ACADEMIC SITUATIONS. THEY
WILL ALSO READ AND UNDERSTAND DIFFERENT TYPES OF SPECIALISED TEXTS, PRODUCE AND TRANSLATE DETAILED TEXTS ON COMPLEX ISSUES THAT DO NOT REQUIRE HIGHLY SPECIALISED
LANGUAGE. S/HE WILL HAVE REACHED A LEVEL OF COMPETENCE CORRESPONDING TO C1 OF THE COMMON EUROPEAN LANGUAGE FRAMEWORK.
Prerequisites
GOOD SPANISH KNOWLEDGE. STUDENTS MUST HAVE PASSED THE FOLLOWING EXAMS: SPANISH LITERATURE 2 AND SPANISH LANGUAGE 2. ABILITY TO USE WORD-PROCESSING PROGRAMS AND TO DEAL CRITICALLY WITH KNOWLEDGE AVAILABLE ON THE INTERNET.

ANALYSIS AND TRANSLATION OF DIFFERENT DISCOURSE TYPES: METHODS, STRATEGIES AND TECHNIQUES;
INTRODUCTION TO TRADUCTOLOGY.
Teaching Methods
LECTURES; PRACTICAL LANGUAGE ACTIVITIES IN THE CLASSROOM AND LANGUAGE LABS WITH NATIVE-SPEAKER LANGUAGE EXPERTS; SELF-STUDY.
REGULAR CLASS ATTENDANCE IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. STUDENTS UNABLE TO ATTEND CLASSES SHOULD PROMPTLY CONTACT THE LECTURER.
Verification of learning
WRITTEN TESTS DURING THE YEAR AND ORAL EXAM AT THE END OF THE CLASSES, OR WRITTEN AND ORAL EXAM AT THE END OF THE CLASSES.
