| Prize winner for the British Orthopaedic Association, 22nd Instructional Course, Smith and Nephews Richards Research and Travel Award: Patterns of meniscal tears in anterior cruciate deficient knees in athletes The prize money financed a one-week visit to the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of the Centre Hopitalier d'Annecy, Annecy, France (Head of Department Dr. G. Melere). The main interests of the Department are trauma, knee surgery and upper limb surgery. The links for collaborative research projects were thus reinforced. Further projects were planned with French colleagues, namely a prospective study of intramedullary nailing in older patients, and a study on anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using a modified Jones technique. | |
