Objectives
THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE COURSE IS TO ANALYZE, FROM A MANAGERIAL, SYSTEMIC, AND SERVICE-ORIENTED PERSPECTIVE, THE FUNCTIONING OF ORGANIZATIONS OPERATING IN THE BIOLOGICAL AND HEALTHCARE FIELDS AND THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT, PARTICULARLY FOCUSING ON THEIR RECIPROCAL DYNAMISM AND THE EFFECTS OF THEIR RESPECTIVE ACTIVITIES. THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH THE ESSENTIAL CONCEPTUAL FOUNDATIONS, TECHNIQUES, AND FUNDAMENTAL MODELS TO INTERPRET, ANALYZE, AND UNDERSTAND THE GOVERNANCE DYNAMICS AND FUNCTIONING OF MODERN SERVICE-CENTERED ORGANIZATIONS IN A COMPREHENSIVE VIEW.
STUDENTS WILL UNDERSTAND THE FUNCTIONING OF BUSINESSES OPERATING IN THE BIOLOGICAL AND HEALTHCARE FIELDS BY ACQUIRING THE BASIC CONCEPTS NECESSARY FOR CORPORATE GOVERNANCE, ANALYZED IN LIGHT OF THE MODERN THEORETICAL CONSTRUCTS PROVIDED IN ACADEMIA BY THE SCIENTIFIC ADVANCEMENTS OF SERVICE RESEARCH. LEARNERS WILL ACQUIRE TECHNIQUES AND METHODS FOR IDENTIFYING INTERPRETATIVE KEYS SUITABLE FOR UNDERSTANDING THE DYNAMICS OF CORPORATE GOVERNANCE AND MARKET EXCHANGES INCREASINGLY DOMINATED BY A LOGIC OF SERVICE AND MUTUAL BENEFIT. THIS FOLLOWS A WIN-WIN PERSPECTIVE, WHERE COLLABORATION AND COLLECTIVE INTEREST PREVAIL OVER THE INDIVIDUAL GOALS OF THE ACTORS, WHO ARE INCREASINGLY ORIENTED TOWARDS VALUE CO-CREATION PHENOMENA.
STUDENTS WILL LEARN TO APPLY A HOLISTIC PERSPECTIVE TO INTERPRET BUSINESS DYNAMICS AND IDENTIFY ALL FACTORS INFLUENCING DECISIONS AND VITALITY. THEY WILL BE ABLE TO INTERPRET TODAY'S COMPLEX CONTEXTS, INCREASINGLY CHARACTERIZED BY CHANGING BOUNDARIES AND RAPID EVOLUTIONS, THANKS TO CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS THAT ENABLE THEM TO DISCERN THE INTERCONNECTIONS BETWEEN MARKET ACTORS AND SOCIETY AS A WHOLE, WHICH ARE BECOMING INCREASINGLY EVIDENT AND INFLUENTIAL. WITH THE BUSINESS MANAGEMENT SKILLS DEVELOPED, STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO PLAN EFFECTIVE STRATEGIES, DEFINED ACCORDING TO THE NEEDS AND INTERESTS OF KEY STAKEHOLDERS AND EMERGING MARKET TRENDS. THEY WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO COLLECT AND INTERPRET DATA, IDENTIFY INNOVATION OPPORTUNITIES, AND DEVELOP TARGETED ACTION PLANS.
THE INNOVATIVE THEORETICAL FRAMEWORKS PRESENTED WILL ENABLE STUDENTS TO DEVELOP DESIGN AND PROBLEM-SOLVING METHODOLOGIES, ACQUIRE GENERAL SCHEMES THROUGH WHICH TO FORMULATE AUTONOMOUS AND INFORMED JUDGMENTS ON MANAGEMENT ISSUES, AND CRITICALLY ANALYZE EMERGING ASPECTS.
THANKS TO THE ACQUIRED FRAMEWORKS, STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO EXPRESS COMPLEX CONCEPTS CLEARLY AND ACCESSIBLY, COMMUNICATE SERVICE- AND RELATIONSHIP-CENTERED IDEAS AND CONCEPTS, AND CONVINCINGLY PRESENT PROJECTS, PROPOSALS, AND IDEAS, FOCUSING ON ACHIEVING COMMON GOALS FROM A VALUE CO-CREATION PERSPECTIVE. THEY WILL ALSO UNDERSTAND THE IMPORTANCE OF EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATION IN CHANGING AND COMPLEX CONTEXTS TO QUICKLY ADAPT TO CHANGES AND TACKLE UNEXPECTED CHALLENGES. ADDITIONALLY, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO USE DIGITAL COMMUNICATION TOOLS AND COLLABORATIVE TECHNOLOGIES EFFECTIVELY, AIMING TO SHARE GOALS AND METHODS FOR ENHANCING RELATIONSHIPS.
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY SOLUTIONS TO COMPLEX SITUATIONS AND SPECIFIC PROBLEMS, EXPANDING THEIR UNDERSTANDING BY SEEKING OUT THE MOST APPROPRIATE RESOURCES AND SOURCES. THEY WILL ALSO BE ABLE TO CONDUCT RESEARCH ACTIVITIES, UNDERSTAND AND INTERPRET COMPLEX TEXTS, WHETHER JOURNALISTIC OR LITERARY, FOR CONTINUOUS KNOWLEDGE UPDATING.

DURING THE LECTURES, ACTIVE STUDENT PARTICIPATION WILL BE ENCOURAGED THROUGH PRACTICAL EXAMPLES. ATTENDANCE IS NOT MANDATORY.
Verification of learning
THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE COURSE OBJECTIVES WILL BE CERTIFIED BY PASSING AN EXAM WITH A GRADE OUT OF THIRTY. THE EXAM WILL CONSIST OF AN ORAL INTERVIEW FOCUSED ON THE IN-DEPTH STUDY OF THE COURSE TOPICS AND THE STUDENT'S UNDERSTANDING. SPECIFICALLY, IT WILL INVOLVE AN INTERVIEW WITH AT LEAST THREE QUESTIONS AND A DISCUSSION ON THE CONTENT INDICATED IN THE COURSE SYLLABUS. THIS IS AIMED AT VERIFYING THE STUDENT'S LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION, AS WELL AS THEIR COMPETENCY IN PRESENTATION, INCLUDING LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY, LOGICAL-DEDUCTIVE AND SUMMARIZATION SKILLS, ARGUMENTATION ABILITY, AND INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT.
THE MINIMUM PASSING GRADE (18) IS AWARDED WHEN THE STUDENT SHOWS A FRAGMENTED KNOWLEDGE OF THE THEORETICAL CONTENT COVERED IN THE COURSE AND A LIMITED ABILITY TO CONTEXTUALIZE IT. THE HIGHEST GRADE (30) IS AWARDED WHEN THE STUDENT DEMONSTRATES A COMPLETE AND IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF THE THEORETICAL CONTENT AND THE ABILITY TO INDEPENDENTLY ESTABLISH CONCEPTUAL CONNECTIONS BETWEEN THEM. HONORS ARE AWARDED WHEN THE STUDENT SHOWS SIGNIFICANT MASTERY OF THE THEORETICAL CONTENT, THE ABILITY TO ARGUE THEM WITH APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY, AND THE ABILITY TO AUTONOMOUSLY CONTEXTUALIZE THEM IN SCENARIOS DIFFERENT FROM THOSE PROPOSED BY THE THE PROFESSOR.
