GENERAL OBJECTIVE: TO UNDERSTAND THE CLINICAL PRESENTATIONS OF MAJOR SPECIALIST DISEASES IN THE FIELDS OF OPHTHALMOLOGY, OTORHINOLARYNGOLOGY, AND ORTHOPEDICS, ALSO WITH A FOCUS ON NURSING CARE CENTERED ON THE MOST COMMON PATHOLOGIES. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: AT THE END OF THE COURSE, THE STUDENT SHOULD HAVE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE RELATED TO THE PATHOPHYSIOLOGY AND CLINICAL ASPECTS OF VISUAL SYSTEM DISEASES IN BOTH PEDIATRIC AND ADULT PATIENTS. THE STUDENT SHOULD KNOW THE FUNDAMENTALS OF FUNCTIONAL AND INSTRUMENTAL SEMEIOTICS, AS WELL AS THE METHODOLOGY AND THERAPY OF OPHTHALMOLOGY, WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO EMERGENCY CONDITIONS. FURTHERMORE, THE STUDENT SHOULD BE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE THE MAIN ORTHOPEDIC AND TRAUMATOLOGICAL CONDITIONS AND SHOULD LEARN THE NURSING CARE PROCEDURES RELATED TO THE SPECIALTIES COVERED IN THE COURSE. THIS INCLUDES KNOWLEDGE OF SPECIFIC METHODOLOGIES LINKED TO THE MOST INNOVATIVE OR NEXT-GENERATION SURGICAL TECHNIQUES (E.G., VIDEO-LAPAROSCOPY, SURGICAL ROBOTS FOR MINIMALLY INVASIVE PROCEDURES, CLINICAL PATIENT MONITORING, ETC.). ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: STUDENTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO APPLY THEIR KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING IN A WAY THAT DEMONSTRATES A PROFESSIONAL APPROACH TO THEIR WORK. THEY SHOULD POSSESS ADEQUATE SKILLS TO FORMULATE AND SUPPORT ARGUMENTS AND TO SOLVE PROBLEMS WITHIN THEIR FIELD OF STUDY. JUDGMENT SKILLS: STUDENTS SHOULD BE CAPABLE OF DEVELOPING INTERDISCIPLINARY REASONING USEFUL IN FORMING INDEPENDENT JUDGMENTS, INCLUDING REFLECTION ON RELATED SOCIAL, SCIENTIFIC, OR ETHICAL ISSUES. THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO USE THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED AND REFER TO IT WHENEVER NECESSARY IN ORDER TO APPROPRIATELY ASSESS AND EVALUATE A PROCESS, SITUATION, OR ACTIVITY WITHIN THE RELEVANT CONTEXT. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: STUDENTS SHOULD BE ABLE TO PRESENT TOPICS ORALLY IN AN ORGANIZED MANNER, USING SEMANTICALLY APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE CONSISTENT WITH THE SUBJECT OF DISCUSSION. AT THE SAME TIME, THEY SHOULD BE ABLE TO COMMUNICATE CRITICALLY ABOUT THE STUDIED TOPICS WITH BOTH SPECIALISTS AND NON-SPECIALISTS AND SUPPORT INTERDISCIPLINARY ARGUMENTS. THEY SHOULD COMMUNICATE THEIR THOUGHTS CLEARLY AND PRECISELY, USING APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE TO PRESENT THEIR MESSAGE (BOTH ORALLY AND IN WRITING) WITH RELEVANCE AND CONFIDENCE IN INTERPERSONAL AND INTERDISCIPLINARY RELATIONSHIPS. ALL OF THIS SHOULD BE DONE WITH CONSIDERATION OF THE EDUCATION LEVEL AND COMPREHENSION ABILITY OF THE INTERLOCUTOR. LEARNING SKILLS: STUDENTS SHOULD HAVE DEVELOPED THE LEARNING SKILLS NECESSARY TO UNDERTAKE FURTHER STUDIES WITH A HIGH DEGREE OF AUTONOMY. THEY SHOULD DEVELOP AUTONOMOUS LEARNING ABILITIES, IDENTIFY AREAS FOR IMPROVEMENT, AND WORK TO ADDRESS THEIR OWN GAPS IN KNOWLEDGE. |
