Objectives
The course takes place in the second semester of the second year. It consists of 7 ECTS and is divided into five teaching modules: MED/18 GENERAL SURGERY 1 ECT 12 HOURS, NURSING MED/45 3 ECTS 36 HOURS, MED/12 GASTROENTEROLOGY 1 ECT 12 HOURS, MED/14 NEPHROLOGY 1ECT 12 HOURS, MED/28 DENTISTRY 1 ECT 12 HOURS, for a total of 84 hours of lessons. General Objective
To promote the acquisition of theoretical knowledge regarding the clinical presentations of major specialist diseases in surgery, gastroenterology, nephrology, and dental and oral medicine.
Knowledge and Understanding
Understanding of the basic aspects of patient history taking and informed consent, the formulation of clinical questions, the knowledge of diagnostic tools used for their evaluation, and the evidence-based methodology for appropriate therapeutic strategies. All of this is integrated with the needs and procedures of nursing practice, which will later be applied during internships and professional training activities.
Applying Knowledge and Understanding
Students should be able to apply their knowledge and understanding in such a way as to demonstrate a professional approach to their work. They should possess adequate skills to devise and support arguments and to solve problems within their field of study.
Autonomy of Judgment
Students should have the ability to engage in interdisciplinary reasoning useful for forming independent judgments, including reflection on social, scientific, or ethical issues related to their field. They should be able to use the knowledge acquired and refer to it whenever necessary to appropriately evaluate and assess a process, situation, or activity within its context.
Communication Skills
Students should be able to present topics orally in an organized manner, with appropriate semantics and consistency with the subject of discussion. They should also be able to communicate critically with both specialists and non-specialists about the topics studied and support interdisciplinary arguments.
They must communicate their thoughts clearly and precisely, using appropriate language to effectively and competently convey their message (both oral and written) in interpersonal and interdisciplinary relationships. This should be done with consideration of the educational level and comprehension abilities of their interlocutor.
Learning Skills
Students should have developed the learning skills necessary to undertake further studies with a high degree of autonomy.
They should cultivate independent learning abilities, identify areas for improvement, and take steps to address their own gaps in knowledge.
Prerequisites
ADEQUATE KNOWLEDGE OF A 2ND YEAR STUDENT IN INFERMIERISTICA, ESPECIALLY ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY OF THE SUBJECTS OF THE COURSE. Surgical Nursing has as a prerequisite: Infermieristica delle Disabilità and the final first year internship

- STOMACH: GASTRITIS, ULCER, CANCER;
- MALABSORPTION AND CELIAC DISEASE;
- IRRITABLE BOWEL, INFLAMMATORY BOWEL DISEASES, DIVERTICULOSIS AND COMPLICATIONS, COLON CANCER;
- PANCREATITIS, PANCREAS TUMOR, BILIARY STONE;
- HEPATITIS, CIRRHOSIS, AND COMPLICATIONS.

4. SURGICAL ABDOMEN
5. MEDICATIONS, BURNS AND WOUNDS

MODULE OF NURSING:
EVALUATION AND INTERVENTIONS IN PATIENTS RELATED TO DISORDERS OF THE GASTROINTESTINAL TRACT, URINARY TRACT.
• HYDROELECTRIC BALANCE;
• PRE, INTRA, AND POSTOPERATIVE ASSISTANCE;
• BLOOD CULTURE, MANAGEMENT, AND NURSING RESPONSIBILITY
• BLOOD TRANSFUSION;• INJURIES: WOUND, SORE, ULCER, BURN, AND CONTUSION CLASSIFICATION, MEDICATION AND TREATMENT
• SURGICAL INSTRUMENTS, CLASSIFICATION. SURGICAL INSTRUMENT FOR MINIMALLY INVASIVE PROCEDURES (LAPAROSCOPE AND INSTRUMENT KIT).
• MANAGEMENT OF THE PATIENT WITH NAUSEA / AND VOMITING, DYSPHAGIA
• NOSE-GASTRIC TUBE FOR ENTERAL FEEDING:
• CARE OF PERISTOMAL SKIN AND REPLACEMENT OF AIDS OF A COLON - ILEOSTOMY.
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE INCLUDES FIVE MODULES FOR 12X7 HOURS OF CLASSES WITH VIDEO SUPPORT. CLINICAL TRAINING IN OUTPATIENTS CLINICS, IN WARDS AND THEATRES ACTIVITIES. THE ATTENDANCE TO THE CLASSES IS MANDATORY. A MINIMUM OF 75% ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED FOR THE FINAL EXAM. THE ATTENDANCE IS ELECTRONICALLY VERIFIED.
Verification of learning
THE ATTAINMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES IS EVALUATED BY AN EXAM FOR ALL THE MODULES COMBINED. THE EXAM INCLUDES A WRITTEN TEST WHICH PROVIDES FOR PASSING EACH MODULE WITH A MINIMUM OF 18/30 IN ORDER TO BE ADMITTED TO THE ORAL TEST. THE GRADES OF THE FINAL EXAM ARE CALCULATED AS THE MEAN OF ALL TESTS AND EXPRESSED AS “TRENTESIMI” (I.E., N/30, MIN GRADE = 0, MAXIMUM GRADE = 30). THE EXAM IS PASSED WHEN THE GRADE IS EQUAL TO OR GREATER THAN 18/30.
