Objectives
THE OBJECT OF THE COURSE IS THE STUDY OF THE PRINCIPLES OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT IN ITS DIFFERENT ARTICULATIONS. THEREFORE,
THE OBJECTIVE OF THE COURSE IS TO PRESENT THE THEORETICAL-CONCEPTUAL EVOLUTION OF THE SUSTAINABILITY PARADIGM AND ITS
IMPLICATIONS AT ENTREPRENEURIAL AND MANAGERIAL FUNCTION LEVEL. THE LINK BETWEEN SUSTAINABILITY AND THE PURPOSES OF THE
BUSINESSES, PAYING SPECIFIC ATTENTION TO THE EVOLUTION OF ENTREPRENEURIAL AND MANAGERIAL THEORIES AND TO THE DIFFUSION OF
CIRCULAR ECONOMY MODEL AT NATIONAL, EUROPEAN AND INTERNATIONAL LEVEL.
THE STUDENT WILL ACQUIRE KNOWLEDGE IN RELATION TO THE IDENTIFICATION AND DESIGN OF BUSINESS MODELS CONSISTENT WITH THE
PRINCIPLES OF SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT AND CIRCULAR ECONOMY, THROUGH THE DEFINITION, INTRODUCTION AND IMPLEMENTATION OF
POLICIES AND PROGRAMS OF INTEGRATED SUSTAINABILITY MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS. THROUGH THE ANALYSIS OF CONCRETE CASES, THE STUDENT
WILL BE ABLE TO RECOGNIZE AND INTERPRET THE IMPLEMENTATION OF STRATEGIES, POLICIES AND MANAGEMENT TOOLS IN LINE WITH
THE PRINCIPLES OF SUSTAINABILITY AND THE CIRCULAR ECONOMY.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of business economics and economics and management businesses are strongly recommended.
Contents
The course is divided into two modules.
MODULE I
- Evolution of entrepreneurial goals and orientation towards sustainability (8 hours of lessons)
- Entrepreneurial and managerial theories on sustainability issues (8 hours of lessons)
- Organizational forms and business models (6 hours of lessons)
- Circular business model (6 hours of lessons)
- Testimonials and analysis of case studies (8 hours of testimonials and analyzes of real cases).
MODULE II
- The relationship between man and the environment in a historical perspective (4 hours of lessons);
- The paradigm of sustainability: economic, environmental and social aspects (4 hours of lessons);
- The main policies at international, European and national level regarding sustainability (8 hours of lessons);
- Green Economy, Blue Economy and Circular economy: sustainable development models compared (6 hours of
lesson, 4 hours of seminars and testimonials);
- Environmental communication tools (10 hours of lessons).
Teaching Methods
The course is divided into:
- MODULE I, in lessons lasting a total of 36 hours. The module includes frontal lessons (28 hours) during
which will present the topics under study with the aim of providing an overall picture of the evolution of entrepreneurial goals towards the principles of sustainability and the different theories and concepts entrepreneurial and managerial models that leverage these principles. During the lessons they will also specific insights were conducted through expert seminars and testimonies from entrepreneurs (4 hours) who
will allow the student to acquire practical knowledge regarding the implementation of strategies and sustainability-oriented business models. The in-depth analysis of case studies (4 hours) will also allow you to create simulation contexts in which students will have the opportunity to put their knowledge and skills into practice skills acquired in order to define winning and sustainable business models.
- MODULE II in frontal lessons lasting a total of 32 hours during which specific lessons will be conducted
in-depth analysis through seminars and testimonies (4 hours) and analysis of case studies discussed in the classroom.
In the lectures, the topics under study and the related operational interpretations will be presented
through a holistic approach. The seminars and testimonials will aim to raise awareness of how operators responsible for government activities within the various sectoral and institutional systems can transform, through the creation of a path based on sustainability, any constraints into
advantageous development opportunities.
Participation to lectures is not mandatory although it is strongly recommended. Access to the exam
does not require a minimum attendance of lectures.
Verification of learning
The evaluation will be unique for the course.
Achievement of the course objectives will be verified by:
- a final test which will consist of an oral interview which aims to verify the knowledge acquired and the
the student's ability to express it clearly and adequately;
- the creation of a project work to ascertain practical skills and abilities.
The minimum evaluation level (18) is assigned when the student has a fragmentary knowledge of
theoretical contents and shows a limited ability to use them in the study context.
The maximum level (30) is awarded when the student demonstrates complete and in-depth knowledge
of methodologies and tools and has a notable ability to use them in the study context.
Honors are awarded when the candidate demonstrates significant mastery of the methodologies and
tools and shows notable ownership of language and autonomous processing ability even in different context.

The reference texts of the two modules will be communicated at the beginning of the course and published on lectures' web pages.
