Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH KNOWLEDGE, TOOLS AND METHODS TO UNDERSTAND MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY HISTORY, WITH OPPORTUNITIES TO FURTHER DEVELOP SKILLS FOR TEACHING ACTIVITY.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
- ANALYSE THE MOST RECENT RESULTS OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL HISTORIOGRAPHY CONCERNING THE MAIN PHENOMENA OF MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY HISTORY;
- DEVELOP TOOLS AND METHODS FOR THE ANALYSIS OF INNOVATIVE RESULTS OF HISTORIOGRAPHY CONCERNING THE MAIN THEMES OF GLOBAL HISTORY AND POLITICAL PHENOMENA OF THE CONTEMPORARY AGE;
- IDENTIFY DIDACTIC METHODOLOGIES FOR THE DISSEMINATION OF COMPLEX HISTORIOGRAPHICAL KNOWLEDGE TO HIGH-SCHOOL STUDENTS;
- FACILITATE THE USE OF DIDACTIC MATERIAL, MANUALS AND TEXTS FUNCTIONAL TO AN ADEQUATE HISTORIOGRAPHIC UPDATING.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
DURING THE COURSE, STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO APPLY METHODS AND FORMS OF KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED BY THE FOLLOWING ACTIVITIES:
- SIMULATE AND EXPERIMENT THE DESIGN OF TEACHING MODULES WITH REFERENCE TO TIME, CONTENTS, OBJECTIVES AND TOOLS, ADAPTING THEM TO POTENTIAL RECIPIENTS, MINISTERIAL PROGRAMS AND TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATIONS;
- USE OF DISCIPLINARY CONTENTS FOR PREPARING TESTS AND EXERCISES;
- DESIGN METHODOLOGIES FOR STRUCTURING EX ANTE, IN ITINERE AND EX POST EXAMS.

GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF ORAL AND WRITTEN ITALIAN; BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF HISTORY AND GEOGRAPHY

THE COURSE AIMS TO OFFER A METHODOLOGICAL AND HISTORIOGRAPHICAL OVERVIEW OF THE STUDY, TEACHING AND HISTORICAL RESEARCH.

THE COURSE IS DIVIDED INTO THREE MODULES AND A LABORATORY:

1) “THE HISTORIAN AND THE SOURCES” (10 HOURS):
THE MODULE IS AIMED AT REASONING ON THE CONCEPTUAL AND INTERPRETATIVE ASSUMPTIONS OF THE HISTORICAL DISCIPLINE, DISCUSSING APPROACHES, SOURCES AND METHODOLOGIES FOR HISTORICAL STUDY AND RESEARCH IN THE CONTEMPORARY AGE.

2) TEACHING HISTORY (6 HOURS):
THE MODULE WILL ADDRESS THE GENERAL ISSUES AND PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE TEACHING OF CONTEMPORARY HISTORY, WITH REGARD TO THE ANALYSIS OF METHODOLOGICAL APPROACHES, THE PRESENTATION OF THE VARIOUS TYPES OF SOURCES AND THE MAIN FIELDS OF STUDY OF CONTEMPORARY HISTORY AT A GLOBAL LEVEL

3) BETWEEN HISTORY AND HISTORIOGRAPHY (10 HOURS):
THE MODULE WILL FOCUS ON THE DISCUSSION OF SOME OF THE MAIN HISTORIOGRAPHICAL PARADIGMS WHICH, BOTH AT AN ACADEMIC AND PUBLIC LEVEL, HAVE CHARACTERIZED THE DEBATES ON THE CONTEMPORARY AGE AT AN INTERNATIONAL LEVEL

1) LABORATORY (4 HOURS):
THE LABORATORY CONSISTS OF TWO PRESENTATION SESSIONS, IN WHICH THE STUDENTS - DIVIDED INTO GROUPS - WILL PRESENT AND DISCUSS SYLLABI PROPOSALS, PREPARED WITH THE TEACHER
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE INCLUDES LECTURES, INTEGRATED WITH GROUP WORK AND/OR INDIVIDUAL RELATIONSHIPS AND LABORATORY ACTIVITIES. THE CLASSROOM DEBATE WITH THE TEACHER AND COLLEAGUES IS AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE TEACHING METHOD AND AIMS TO DEVELOP THE ABILITY TO APPLY THE SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED
Verification of learning
ATTAINMENT OF THE TEACHING OBJECTIVES IS CERTIFIED BY PASSING AN EXAMINATION WITH A GRADE IN THIRTIETHS. THE EXAMINATION INCLUDES A FINAL ORAL EXAMINATION ON THE TOPICS COVERED AND SCHEDULED IN THE PROGRAMME OF STUDY, WITH REGARD TO THE APPROACHES AND METHODOLOGY OF HISTORICAL RESEARCH, THE ANALYSIS OF DIDACTICS AND THE CRITICISM OF HISTORIOGRAPHY. THE MINIMUM MARK FOR PASSING THE EXAMINATION IS 18/30, WHILE HONOURS MAY BE AWARDED TO STUDENTS WHO ACHIEVE A MAXIMUM MARK OF 30/30 AND DEMONSTRATE COMPLETE MASTERY OF THE FUNDAMENTALS OF THE STUDY, TEACHING AND CRITICISM OF THE DISCIPLINE OF HISTORY.
