Objectives
LEARNING RESULTS AND EXPERTISE TO ACQUIRE:

THE MAIN EDUCATIONAL KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING GOALS OF THE CLASS ARE CONCERNED WITH THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE METHODOLOGIES FOR THE DESIGN OF TRADITIONAL AND INNOVATIVE STEEL STRUCTURES WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO EUROPEAN AND NATIONAL CODES.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING CAPACITIES:
THE CLASS WILL HAVE TO DEMONSTRATE THE ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND THE DESIGN MODALITIES PROVIDED WITH PARTICULAR REFERENCE TO THE CRITICALITIES IN THE APPLICATION OF THE CODES TO THE CURRENT DESIGN PRACTICE.

CAPACITY TO PREPARE THE SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION FOR A PATENT APPLICATION;

TO KNOW HOW TO IDENTIFY THE MOST APPROPRIATE METHODOLOGIES TO PROPERLY INVESTIGATE THE PROPOSED ISSUE

THE CLASS INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING MODULES:
- INTRODUCTION TO STEEL STRUCTURES AND FOUNDAMENTALS OF SEISMIC ENGINEERING
- DESGIN OF MOMENT RESISTING FRAMES, ECCENTRICALLY AND CONCENTRICALLY BRACED FRAMES
- CRITICAL ISSUES IN THE APPLICATION OF CODES FOR STEEL STRUCTURES
- DESIGN AND APPLICATION TO INNOVATIVE STEEL STRUCTURES
Teaching Methods
THE CLASS INCLUDES THEORETICAL LECTURES (90%) AND A VISIT IN THE LABORATORY OF STRUCUTRES (10%).
Verification of learning
THE FINAL TEST CONSISTS ON QUESTIONS WITH OPEN ANSWER
