Objectives
At the end of the Medical and Surgical Area internships, the student must have achieved the following professional skills, in the two specific areas:

Implement good practices in the doctor-patient relationship (interview, report, information, clarity, acquisition of consent)
Have the ability to take the history and perform a physical examination in an outpatient setting Know and know how to apply clinical reasoning: the ability to identify priority or urgent problems and secondary ones and the ability to propose diagnostic hypotheses and identify investigations diagnostics with greater sensitivity and specificity to confirm or not the hypotheses
Know how to interpret laboratory tests
Be able to interpret diagnostic imaging test reports Orientate on decision-making processes related to pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatment
Knowing how to fill in the hospitalization acceptance/discharge report and able to fill in the discharge letter
Be able to evaluate the appropriateness of the indication for hospitalization and indicate rehabilitation or protected hospitalization paths in other structures
Demonstrate capable of framing the reason for hospitalization in the complex of any chronicities, other criticalities and frailties of the patients
Indicate prevention and health education actions
Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of the organization of the National Health Service and the Regional Health Service
Respect the start and end shift times, dress appropriately for the role, bring everything necessary with you
Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of the ward (or clinic) rules Interact correctly with the medical, nursing and technical staff of the ward Demonstrate knowledge and awareness of the different roles and tasks of the team members Demonstrate an active attitude (asking questions, proposing to carry out activities )

Contents
The student will participate in all the clinical activities of the assigned department; in the last period the student will be
directly involved in the management of a patient, from the moment of hospitalization to his discharge: welcoming the patient to the ward, correctly compiling the medical record (medical history, physical examination and daily allowance), setting up the diagnostic pathway, informing the patient and obtaining consent for the diagnostic and therapeutic path, participate in the epicrisis and in the compilation of the discharge letter and, if possible, participate in the compilation of a RAD understanding its meaning. The objectives include: knowing how to apply a dressing in a sterile field, applying and removing stitches, attending at least one operating session.
The skills demonstrated in these activities will constitute the fundamental element of the final judgment.
Teaching Methods
Attendance is foreseen in the laboratory, ward, multimedia seminars, and with general practitioners etc. Mandatory attendance.
Verification of learning
Evaluation with achievement of suitability of the practical activity of the student on the knowledge acquired during the internship period.
