Objectives
Educational Objectives
This integrated course aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to identify and interpret the main clinical signs of gynecological pathologies, interpret histopathological reports, apply pre- and post-operative protocols related to common surgical techniques, and collaborate with the healthcare team to propose personalized care plans.

Knowledge and Understanding
By the end of the course, students will know and understand:
•Health determinants, risk factors, prevention strategies, and diagnostic tools applied to the promotion and support of the health of women, pregnant women, parturients, puerperae, and newborns.
•the values, theories, and models of Midwifery for assessing the health status of the patient and applying good obstetric practice in gynecological care.

Ability to Apply Knowledge
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
•Assist in physiological childbirth and perform episiotomy, episiotomy repair, and first- and second-degree tear suturing when necessary.
•Actively participate in traditional and innovative obstetric and gynecological surgeries.
•Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team of medical specialists and other healthcare professionals in the pre- and post-operative periods.
•Participate in the creation and implementation of prevention and early gynecological oncology diagnosis programs.
•Develop appropriate communication skills (verbal, non-verbal, and written) with patients of all ages and their families within the care process and/or with other professionals in the multi-professional team.

Autonomy of Judgment
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
•Demonstrate increasing autonomy in managing and implementing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures aimed at the health of women, newborns, and couples, in the care team, and in varying levels of care intensity.
•Set priorities for patient care within their responsibilities.
•Make appropriate care decisions, considering legal, political, geographic, economic, ethical, and social influences.
•Critically assess the outcomes of care decisions based on patient outcomes and care standards.
•Assume decision-making responsibility and be accountable for their actions during professional practice, in compliance with the profile, ethical code, and legal and ethical standards.
•Make decisions using a scientific approach to solve patient problems by evaluating available scientific studies and ensuring quality care while utilizing research tools.

Communication Skills
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
•Conduct interpersonal interviews with patients of all ages and their families within the care process and/or with other healthcare professionals in an appropriate manner, leading effective negotiations with methodological rigor.
•Support and encourage patients to make health choices, strengthening coping skills, self-esteem, and enhancing available resources.
•Manage communication skills for dialogue at both national and international levels.
•Use teaching and learning principles for specific information or educational interventions aimed at individual patients, families, groups, and other professionals (e.g., support staff, midwifery students, nursing students), applying clear and organized communication of their mental summaries.

Learning Ability
By the end of the course, students will be able to:
•Study independently.
•Continuously self-assess their educational needs in relation to the nature and complexity of the problems they face and the strategies to be managed.
•Cultivate doubts and tolerate uncertainties arising from study and practical activities.
•Question the practice of their activity, relevant to time, place, and interlocutors.
•Continuously seek opportunities for self-learning, collaborative learning, and self-assessment within the work teams

Teaching Methods
Lectures, seminar activities, practical exercises in the operating room, delivery room, and hospital wards; simulations on mannequins and computer-based exercises for a total of 48 hours. Attendance at lectures is mandatory, and access to the exam requires at least 75% attendance of the total hours of the course. Attendance will be verified using the EasyAcademy software.
Verification of learning
Each module is assessed through an oral exam of about 15 minutes, aimed at evaluating the understanding of the course topics and the ability to apply knowledge in a collaborative, multiprofessional gynecological instrumental diagnostics setting. The oral exam score, expressed in thirtieths, depends on the depth of knowledge and the ability to effectively present and critically discuss the role and competencies of the nurse-midwife in the clinical situations analyzed during the interview. The minimum score for the oral exam requires knowledge of the meaning and appropriate use of all terms related to the course topics. The final course grade is the weighted average of the individual module grades. The honors grade requires achieving the highest score in all modules and demonstrating interdisciplinary reasoning abilities.
