THE COURSE AIMS TO INVESTIGATE SOME CRUCIAL TOPICS OF ROMAN HISTORY, THROUGH THE ANALYSIS OF CONCRETE EXAMPLES AND THE DIRECT READING OF ANCIENT SOURCES. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THE STUDENT -WILL KNOW THE MAIN SOURCES OF ANCIENT ROMAN HISTORIOGRAPHY; -WILL KNOW THE MAIN DEBATES AND HISTORIOGRAPHIC TRENDS OF MODERN SCHOLARSHIP ON ANCIENT ROME. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO -ASK QUESTIONS TO ANCIENT SOURCES AND CRITICALLY READ THEM; -CARRY OUT ORIGINAL RESEARCH ON TOPICS RELATED TO THE DISCIPLINE; -ACT PROFESSIONALLY IN THE DIFFERENT AREAS OF THE WORLD OF WORK RELATED TO CLASSICAL STUDIES, INCLUDING TEACHING ACTIVITIES IN THE SECONDARY SCHOOL. AUTONOMY OF JUDGEMENT THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO -RECOGNIZE THE STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES OF A MANUAL; -APPLY THE HISTORICAL-CRITIC METHOD TO THE READING OF ANCIENT SOURCES AND MODERN BIBLIOGRAPHY; -EXPRESS REASONED JUDGEMENTS ON FACTS AND PERSONALITIES OF ANCIENT ROME. COMMUNICATION SKILLS THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO -MASTER THE SPECIFIC TERMINOLOGY OF THE DISCIPLINE; -DISCUSS HISTORIC OR HISTORIOGRAPHIC ISSUES CONCERNING ANCIENT ROME, IN A CLEAR, EXHAUSTIVE AND WELL-ARGUED WAY. LEARNING SKILLS THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO -USE THE TRADITIONAL BIBLIOGRAPHICAL AND RESEARCH TOOLS, AS WELL AS DIGITAL DATABASES AND E-LIBRARIES; -READ AND USE (ALSO FOR EDUCATIONAL AND/OR RESEARCH PURPOSES) THE SCIENTIFIC TEXTS RELATED TO THE DISCIPLINE; -UPDATE HIS/HER KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS BY THE MEANS OF THE RELEVANT SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE. |
