Objectives
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE THE THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS OF ORGANIZATIONAL FUNDAMENTALS AND PRACTICES FOR APPROACHING ORGANIZATIONAL PLANNING AND DESIGN AND ORGANIZATIONAL BEHAVIOR ISSUES APPLIED TO SOCIAL SERVICE MANAGEMENT, CONTRIBUTING TO THE ACQUISITION OF ORGANIZATIONAL AND MANAGERIAL SKILLS IN SOCIAL SERVICES (PUBLIC, PRIVATE, AND THIRD SECTOR) AND INTRA- AND INTER-ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONS.
THROUGH THE USE OF THEORETICAL MODELS AND PRACTICAL CASE STUDIES, IT AIMS TO PROVIDE A COMPREHENSIVE AND UP-TO-DATE KNOWLEDGE OF THE PRINCIPLES, METHODS, ACTORS, RESOURCE MANAGEMENT, AND PLANNING TOOLS FOR THE PROVISION OF SERVICES TAILORED TO THE NEEDS OF SOCIETY.
THE COURSE ALSO ALLOWS STUDENTS TO STRENGTHEN KEY SOFT SKILLS (LEADERSHIP, PROBLEM SOLVING, DECISION MAKING, TEAMWORK, COMMUNICATION) THAT ARE STRATEGIC FOR THE SOCIAL SERVICES SECTOR, ORIENTING THE WORKING ENVIRONMENT TOWARDS WELL-BEING.

STUDENTS WILL ACQUIRE A SOLID KNOWLEDGE OF THE TOOLS AND THEORETICAL MODELS SPECIFIC TO THE DISCIPLINE OF ORGANIZATION APPLIED TO THE SOCIAL SERVICES SYSTEM WITHIN THREE LEVELS OF ANALYSIS: INDIVIDUAL, GROUP, AND ORGANIZATION. THEY WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND AND INTERPRET THE MAIN ORGANIZATIONAL PHENOMENA TYPICAL OF EACH LEVEL WITH A VIEW TO PROMOTING WELL-BEING: MOTIVATION AND DECISION MAKING AT THE INDIVIDUAL LEVEL; TEAM WORKING AND LEADERSHIP AT THE GROUP LEVEL; ORGANIZATIONAL DESIGN AND CHANGE MANAGEMENT AT THE ORGANIZATIONAL LEVEL.
THEY WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND AND INTERPRET THE MAIN ORGANIZATIONAL PHENOMENA TYPICAL OF EACH LEVEL WITH A VIEW TO PROMOTING WELL-BEING.
SPECIFICALLY, THE COURSE WILL EXPLORE THEORIES, MODELS, PRACTICES, AND TOOLS FOR ORGANIZATIONAL DESIGN AND THE MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES IN SOCIAL AND HEALTHCARE CONTEXTS.
THE COURSE COVERS THE FOLLOWING TOPICS:
- WHAT IS MEANT BY ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE?
- HOW IS THE ADEQUACY OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL MACROSTRUCTURE ASSESSED? ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE, THE OPERATING ENVIRONMENT AND OBJECTIVES, ORGANIZATION AND ENVIRONMENT, STRATEGY, MACRO STRUCTURE:, SIMPLE MACRO STRUCTURE, FUNCTIONAL MACRO STRUCTURE, DIVISIONAL MACRO STRUCTURE, MATRIX MACRO STRUCTURE, ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE, DECISION-MAKING PROCESSES, (12 HOURS OF LECTURES).
- HOW IS THE SUITABILITY OF PEOPLE'S WORK ASSESSED? THE MICROSTRUCTURE OF WORK: TASKS AND DUTIES, STAFFING AND HUMAN RESOURCES, LEADERSHIP AND ORGANIZATIONAL CLIMATE (12 HOURS OF LECTURES).
- HOW ARE ORGANIZATIONAL DESIGN CHALLENGES ASSESSED? THE CHALLENGE OF ORGANIZATIONAL DESIGN, MULTI-CONTINGENT ORGANIZATIONAL DESIGN, THE INFORMATION PROCESSING VIEW, THE ADEQUACY OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE, CHANGE MANAGEMENT PROCESSES (12-HOUR LECTURE).

Teaching Methods
THE COURSE CONSISTS OF 36 HOURS OF TEACHING
THE COURSE WILL BE STRUCTURED WITH LECTURES, PRESENTATIONS AND CASE STUDY ANALYSIS, EXERCISES, IN-DEPTH MEETINGS WITH EXPERTS IN THE FIELD.
Verification of learning
VERIFICATION OF LEARNING WILL BE THROUGH A FINAL ORAL AND/OR WRITTEN TEST DESIGNED TO ASSESS THE KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS ACQUIRED.
THE EVALUATION WILL BE EXPRESSED IN THIRTIETHS. THE GRADE (MINIMUM 18, MAXIMUM 30 WITH POSSIBLE HONORS) IS AWARDED TAKING INTO ACCOUNT THE FOLLOWING DIMENSIONS:

(A) MASTERY OF COURSE CONTENT;
(B) THE POSSESSION OF ADEQUATE KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEMS SET FORTH OR INDICATED, APPLYING IN A RELEVANT MANNER THE THEORIES, CONCEPTUAL MODELS OF ORGANIZATIONAL ASSESSMENT COVERED BY THE PROGRAM;
(C) THE POSSESSION OF ADEQUATE KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY TO DEVELOP AND COMMUNICATE SOLUTIONS CONSISTENT WITH THE ORGANIZATIONAL PROBLEMS NOTED IN THE TOURISM SECTOR, APPLYING IN A RELEVANT MANNER THE TOOLS AND CONCEPTUAL MODELS COVERED IN THE PROGRAM.
