Presentation
The iFASE lab is mainly used for thesis and research projects development and it hosts the local team. All the projects share two common goals: “Experimental evaluation” and “Technological transfer” of basic research results. In this way many innovative solutions have been promoted from prototypes to preproduction tools. Highly innovative solutions have been implemented and tested in the following research areas:
- Multimedia Forensics (Source camera identification and Image/Video Integrity with the CHI Project: Camera Hardware identification), network forensics (LNEC Live network Evidence Collector Project, as well as methodologies and solution expressly designed for collecting and preserving Digital evidences in legal proceedings (project: Digital Alibi).
- Applications and models for distributed computing for the analysis of Big Data (CHI project for the massive analysis of images from social networks; alignment free methods in computational biology and sequence comparison for bioinformatics). In this context, several distributed programs based on the MapReduce paradigm (using both the Apache Hadoop and Spark Environments) have been developed proving their scalability up to thousands of nodes (computational grids).
- Algorithms and protocols for ICT security: the working group has developed real-scale implementations that have been used for performance evaluation and for the experimental analysis of the overall security of the proposed solution. Topics include: Experimental analysis of Algorithms, SOA architectures, development of applications on mobile devices, digital infrastructures for security (Certification Authority, Public Key infrastructure, Identity providers (systems of Authentication and management of digital identity), digital signature, encryption and security of the transport channel. In collaboration with the Regional Health agency Arsan the AIR Project (a service for collecting anamnestic data of all the diabetic patients of the Campania through their General Medicine Doctors).
