Research | Computer Center and Network Services
Laboratories
Mission
The center hosts equipment used to provide basic services for research and teaching activites of the Department.
The center is equipped with its own and independent systems for climate control and supply system.
The environment is designed to ensure server operation 24/7 through dedicated UPS.
The Computing and Network Services Center is under the responsibility of the Department Director.
Technical Description
All areas of research require specialized infrastructure for computing and storage, characterized by different levels of scalability both horizontally and vertically.
We move from CPU-intensive simulation applications to image/video analysis for security issues to systems for machine learning and distributed computation.
In the laboratory, there are both resources exclusively used by different areas, acquired a few years ago, and not immediately usable by other
groups, resulting in suboptimal use of these resources as well as infrastructure designed specifically for virtualization that guarantees concrete, efficient, and effective responses to research needs of the Department.
Equipment
The equipment consists of the following subsystems:
a) Processing and management
b) Memory
c) Virtualization
d) Training and assessment of deep neural networks
The primary goal of the requested infrastructure is to meet "on-demand" and completely adaptive and optimized demands expressed by research and teaching sectors present in the Department.
