Presentation

The "Knowledge and Risk Management, Ethics for Sustainable Strategic Management (K.R.E.S.S.M.)” Lab. is an International Research Center and Laboratory established at the University of Salerno, Department of Business Sciences - Management & Innovation Systems, with Authorization Decree prot. 110664 dated 27/04/2023 Rep. 205/2023.

The Center aims to stimulate moments of reflection and in-depth analysis on critical issues related to knowledge management and its impact on risk management in the complex strategic decision-making process.

Another area of focus for the Center is ethics observed from various perspectives: public ethics, ethical behaviors, ethical decision-making, and other profiles related to the domains of management and technology. Special attention is given to the creation, care, and improvement of the cornerstone of ethics: the ethical code.

Corporate social responsibility and sustainability are additional topics of interest, linked to the use of social responsibility tools and the measurement of the effectiveness of strategic formulation and implementation, as well as the co-creation processes of value that ensue. These topics encompass sustainable development and the 2030 Agenda, both in terms of direct and indirect analysis, aiming to measure the impacts between organizational strategic approaches, results in terms of co-created value, and alignment with the 17 goals and 169 targets of the 2030 Agenda.

Another area of interest is technology and security in the domain of cybersecurity, given the increasing attention to the topic and the need for greater awareness at various levels (entrepreneurial, institutional, and para-institutional).

What we do

The Center interacts with internal organizations at the University of Salerno and external entities to carry out teaching, support, and research activities on central themes of common interest.

The Center’s purpose is the study and in-depth analysis, through research activities and knowledge dissemination, of scientific and cultural topics in the areas of management and governance, with reference to the strategic field, focusing on knowledge management and risk management, ethics, sustainability, and the relationships that can develop among these domains. The strategic orientation towards sustainability principles and the achievement of the goals of the 2030 Agenda, innovation, and technology management will be central themes in the Center's activities, with particular attention to aspects related to cybersecurity, crisis management, and contingency management.

The Center aims to:

  • establish a provincial, regional, national, and international network through the signing of agreements and conventions with associations, public and private entities, universities, ministries and substructures, diplomatic representations, etc., aimed at the exchange and circulation of information, as well as the design of events on topics of common interest involving the parties concerned;
  • participate in national, European, and international research projects through interdisciplinary collaborations between Italian and foreign professors and experts, aimed at open and continuous training on the Center's topics of interest;
  • carry out support/service activities on behalf of internal subjects within the university and external subjects (other universities, private/public entities and organizations);
  • publish scientific publications on research interests;
  • organize educational events such as (for example, but not limited to) refresher courses and/or post-graduate courses, masters, seminars, conferences, and other aggregative activities related to scientific research, directed at both public and private organizations.
  • carry out teaching activities in support of the training paths of the University of Salerno and, by prior agreement, other Italian and foreign universities.
  • other activities that the Center deems useful.
