Objectives
STUDENTS WILL ACQUIRE A KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORLD OF CINEMA AND THE RELATION BETWEEN THE MOVIES AND THE WORLD OF ANCIENT AND CONTEMPORARY ARTS. MOREOVER, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO MASTER A METHOD THAT WILL LET THEM TO INTERPRET THE FILMIC TEXT, EDUCATE THEIR FEELING AND THEIR CRITICAL SENSE AND TO LEARN AND ANALYZE FILM WORKS.
Prerequisites
A BROAD KNOWLEDGE OF ITALIAN AND FOREIGN CINEMA ALONG ALL ITS HISTORY, TOGETHER WITH A FAMILIARITY WITH THE HISTORY OF THE 20TH CENTURY, TO PLACE IN A CLEAR AND WELL-DEFINED CONTEXT GENRES, AUTHORS AND WORKS THAT WILL BE COVERED DURING THE COURSE

CINEMA IS THAT FORM OF COMMUNICATION, AND SOMETIMES ART, WHICH HAS CHARACTERIZED THE TWENTIETH CENTURY AND THIS EARLY YEARS OF OUR CENTURY. SINCE ITS BEGINNINGS, IT HAD A CLOSE CONTACT WITH HISTORICAL, ABSORBING AND IN TURN INFLUENCING ITALIAN SOCIETY. THIS COURSE AIMS TO ILLUSTRATE THIS CHARACTERISTICS, THROUGH LECTURES, FILMS OF AUDIOVISUAL MATERIALS (FICTION AND DOCUMENTARIES), ANALYSIS OF MOVIES AND OTHER TEXTS, COMPARISONS WITH, VISUAL ARTS. SPACE WILL ALSO BE LET TO SPECIFIC ISSUES, SUCH AS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CINEMA AND THE SEASON OF THE HISTORICAL AVANT-GARDE, THE INFLUENCE THAT CLASSICAL WORLD HAD ON THE AFFIRMATION OF SILENT FILMS IN ITALY AND OVERSEAS,
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE FOCUSES ON THE COMBINATION OF SEVERAL COMPONENTS: THE HISTORICAL-CRITICAL CLASS, THE VISUAL PROJECTIONS, WITH RELATED ANALYSIS AND COMMENTS, THE STUDY OF TEXTS ADOPTED, THE MEETING WITH SOME OF THE PROTAGONISTS OF ITALIAN CINEMA AS GUESTS OF THE SALERNO UNIVERSITY.
Verification of learning
THE ASSESSMENT WILL BE THROUGH AN ORAL INTERVIEW. IT IS POSSIBLE FOR THE STUDENT TO PRESENT AN OPTIONAL BRIEF DISSERTATION TO BE AGREED IN ADVANCE WITH THE TEACHER

- THE NON-ATTENDING STUDENTS SHOULD CHOSE 30 MOVIES AMONG THE MOST CITED WORKS IN THE TEXTS ADOPTED.
