THE AIM OF THE COURSE IS TO PROVIDE ADVANCED KNOWLEDGE OF THE HISTORY OF ITALIAN CINEMA, AS WELL AS CRITICAL AND CONCEPTUALISING SKILLS TO BE USED IN THE FIELD OF PUBLISHING INDUSTRY, AND IN THE PRODUCTION AND ORGANIZATION OF CINEMATOGRAPHY. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: STUDENTS WILL ACQUIRE A GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE WORLD OF ITALIAN CINEMA IN RELATION TO CONTEMPORARY HISTORY AND OTHER SOCIAL SCIENCES. STUDENTS WILL ACQUIRE A KNOWLEDGE OF THE HISTORY OF ITALIAN CINEMA FROM ITS ORIGINS TO PRESENT DAY, IN BOTH THE FIELD OF FICTION AND OF DOCUMENTARY FILM. THEY WILL ALSO ACQUIRE A METHODOLOGY THAT WILL ALLOW THEM TO ANALYSE THE MOVIE TEXTS. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: STUDENTS WILL IMPROVE THEIR SENSITIVITY AND CRITICAL SKILLS. THEY WILL LEARN HOW TO ANALYSE CINEMATIC GENRES AND WORKS, AND TO RECOGNIZE THE POETICS OF THE VARIOUS AUTHORS. |

FILM IS A FORM OF COMUNICATION AND SOMETIMES OF AN ART, THAT HAS CHARACTERIZED THE 20TH CENTURY AND THE EARLY YEARS OF THIS CENTURY. FROM THE BEGINNING IT HAS HAD COLSE CONTACTS WITH HISTORICAL SOCIAL AND CULTURAL MOVEMENTS IN TURN INFLUENCING AND CONTAMINATING THEM. By means of an oral discussion of the exam bibliography and the course contents, the exam will assess the students’ knowledge of authors, works and issues related to the history of Italian cinema, as well as their ability to clearly and correctly express what they have learnt. |
