Objectives
GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
THE COURSE, WHICH IS STRUCTURED IN TWO MODULES, ONE OF 30 HOURS COMMON TO TWO CURRICULA AND THE OTHER OF 15 HOURS SPECIALISED, AIMS AT DEEPENING
- OF THE COMPLEX STRUCTURES OF THE FRENCH LANGUAGE AND LINGUISTICS
- OF THE METHODOLOGICAL AND METALINGUISTIC SKILLS NECESSARY FOR TEACHING/LEARNING FRENCH;
- OF THE METHODOLOGICAL SKILLS OF THE MACRO- AND MICRO-LINGUISTIC ASPECTS OF SPECIALIST TERMINOLOGIES.
IN THE LITERATURE AND LITERARY TRANSLATION CURRICULUM, TEACHING AIMS TO DEEPEN CRITICAL REFLECTION ON THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL PROBLEMS CONCERNING DIFFERENT TYPES OF LITERARY, EDITORIAL AND CRITICAL TEXT TRANSLATION.
IN THE LINGUISTICS AND LANGUAGE DIDACTICS CURRICULUM, THE AIM IS TO PERFECT METHODOLOGICAL AND METALINGUISTIC SKILLS AIMED AT FACILITATING THE TEACHING/LEARNING OF FRENCH ALSO IN RELATION TO DEFINITIONAL ISSUES IN INTER- AND INTRALINGUISTIC TRANSLATION PROCESSES.
KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
THE STUDENT WILL
- CONSOLIDATE KNOWLEDGE OF THE FRENCH LANGUAGE AND LINGUISTICS BY REACHING A FULL C1 LEVEL OF THE COMMON EUROPEAN FRAMEWORK OF REFERENCE FOR LANGUAGES;
- LEARN TO CARRY OUT METALINGUISTIC REFLECTION ON LINGUISTIC CHARACTERISTICS AND TRANSLATION STRATEGIES;
- WILL DEEPEN TECHNIQUES FOR THE TRANSLATION OF COMPLEX ORAL AND WRITTEN TEXTS;
- IN THE LITERATURE AND LITERARY TRANSLATION CURRICULUM, IT WILL DEEPEN ITS KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN METHODS AND TECHNIQUES RELATING TO AUTHORIAL TRANSLATION AND THE PUBLISHING WORLD;
- IN THE LINGUISTICS AND LANGUAGE TEACHING CURRICULUM, IT WILL DEEPEN ITS KNOWLEDGE OF METHODOLOGIES FOR THE TEACHING/LEARNING OF THE FRENCH LANGUAGE.

- MASTER THE FRENCH LANGUAGE IN ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL CONTEXTS
- CARRY OUT A CONTRASTIVE ANALYSIS OF THE NON-SYSTEMATIC CHARACTERS OF THE LINGUISTIC CODE AND THEIR MORPHOLOGICAL REFORMULATION;
- DEVELOP ARGUMENTATIVE SKILLS IN RELATION TO DOCIMOLOGICAL, LINGUISTIC AND TRANSLATION ASPECTS;
- PRODUCE A LINGUISTIC INTERPRETATION OF LITERARY, NON-FICTION AND SPECIALISED TEXTS;
- DEEPEN THE STUDY OF COMPLEX LINGUISTIC PHENOMENA ALSO BY USING THE TOOLS PROVIDED BY NEW COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGIES AND EXPERIENCING COLLABORATIVE LEARNING;

- FORMULATE AUTONOMOUS JUDGEMENTS AND POINTS OF VIEW ON ISSUES RELATING TO SPECIALISED TRANSLATION AND THEIR THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL STUDY AND APPLICATION IN SPECIFIC PROFESSIONAL CONTEXTS;
- PRODUCE AUTONOMY AND STRONG CRITICAL ANALYSIS SKILLS ON COMPLEX TOPICS IN FRENCH LANGUAGE AND LINGUISTICS, LINGUISTIC RESEARCH AND DOCUMENTATION;
- PRODUCE AUTONOMY IN IDENTIFYING AND EVALUATING MICRO-LANGUAGE AND TRANSLATION ISSUES.

MODULE 30 HOURS COMMON TO BOTH CURRICULA:
STUDENTS' LINGUISTIC AND SOCIOLINGUISTIC, PRAGMATIC AND TEXTUAL KNOWLEDGE WILL BE CONSOLIDATED AND EXPANDED THROUGH THE LINGUISTIC, RHETORICAL AND STYLISTIC ANALYSIS OF WRITTEN AND ORAL TEXTS, WITH THE AIM OF EMPHASISING THE INTIMATE CONNECTION BETWEEN SYNTACTIC, SEMANTIC AND PRAGMATIC FACTORS. CENTRAL ISSUES OF TRANSLATION THEORY AND PRACTICE WILL BE ADDRESSED THROUGH THE COMPARATIVE-CONTRASTIVE COMPARISON OF CODES IN CONTACT THROUGH THE TRANSLATION OF TEXTS OF VARIOUS TYPES AND SPECIALISED INTEREST. POSSIBLE TRANSLATIONS OF A TEXT WILL BE COMPARED, CHECKING THE ANALYSIS CRITERIA ADOPTED AND THE CONSISTENCY OF THE TRANSLATION CHOICES MADE.

SPECIALISED 15-HOUR MODULES:
THE SPECIALIST COURSES FOR THE TWO CURRICULA (15+15) ARE INTENDED TO PROVIDE THE CONCEPTUAL, METHODOLOGICAL, THEORETICAL AND PRACTICAL TOOLS FOR REFINING AND ENHANCING METALINGUISTIC SKILLS WITH THE AID OF NEW TECHNOLOGIES.
SPECIFICALLY, THE COURSES FOCUS ON THE LINGUISTIC AND TRANSLATION ISSUES OF THE LITERARY TEXT, AS WELL AS PEDAGOGICAL TRANSLATION AND THE TECHNOLOGIES AND METHODOLOGIES OF TEACHING FRENCH TO ITALIAN-SPEAKING LEARNERS.
AMPLE SPACE IS RESERVED FOR THE PRACTICES OF MACHINE TRANSLATION AND POST-EDITING, CONDUCTED ON SIGNIFICANT TEXTS FROM FRANCOPHONE LITERATURES (MAGHREB, SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA, CANADA AND THE FRENCH ANTILLES).

THE MANY PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS OF THESE TOPICS IN THE FIELDS OF FRENCH LINGUISTICS, NON-FICTION-LITERARY TRANSLATION AND FLE DIDACTICS WILL BE ILLUSTRATED, AND A REFLECTION ON THE NEW FRONTIERS OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN THE LANGUAGE INDUSTRIES WILL BE INITIATED.

LECTURES, INTERACTIVE LESSONS, COLLABORATIVE AND COOPERATIVE WORK.
STUDENTS WHO HAVE NOT EXCEEDED 20% ABSENCES WILL BE CONSIDERED AS ATTENDING.
Verification of learning
AT THE END OF THE COURSE, ATTENDING AND NON-ATTENDING STUDENTS ARE REQUIRED TO SIT AN EXAM THAT INCLUDES A PREPARATORY WRITTEN TEST, THE PASSING OF WHICH IS A PREREQUISITE FOR ADMISSION TO THE ORAL EXAM. THE WRITTEN TEST, LASTING 6 HOURS, WILL FOCUS ON THE TOPICS COVERED IN THE COURSE OF THE LECTURES, BASED ON THE CONTENTS OF THE TEXTBOOKS ADOPTED. THE STUDENT IS REQUIRED TO PASS
- A DICTATION TO TEST FURTHER AND MORE COMPLEX PHONETIC, PHONOLOGICAL AND MORPHOLOGICAL KNOWLEDGE OF THE FRENCH LANGUAGE
- A DISSERTATION IN THE LANGUAGE ON THE CULTURAL/TOPICAL SUBJECTS STUDIED
- THE TRANSLATION OF A TEXT FROM FRENCH INTO ITALIAN.
SPECIFICALLY, THE FINAL JUDGMENT IS FORMULATED BASED ON THE FOLLOWING EVALUATION CRITERIA:
• FAILURE TO PASS THE EXAM: THE CANDIDATE DOES NOT REACH ANY EDUCATIONAL GOAL;
• 18 TO 21: SUFFICIENT LEVEL;
• 22 TO 24: LEVEL FULLY SUFFICIENT;
• 25 TO 26: GOOD LEVEL;
• FROM 27 TO 29: VERY GOOD LEVEL;
• 30 TO 30 AND PRAISE: EXCELLENT LEVEL.
FOR THOSE ATTENDING THE COURSE, THERE WILL BE IN ITINERE TESTS IN LIEU OF THE FINAL EXAMINATION.
