Roberto GERUNDO Curriculum

Roberto Gerundo, after the high school diploma, attended Italian Air Force Academy in Pozzuoli and then he graduated with honors in Civil Engineering at University of Napoli. He trained with Luigi Cosenza, learning how to develop land use plans; he took an active part in the reconstruction process after the earthquake of 1980, he worked at Campania Region Urban Planning Office (1982-83) and at Commissioner's Office for Phlegrean bradyseism (1984-87). He’s been researcher at the Research Center of Federazione Italiana Lavoratori Trasporti and teaching assistant of urban planning at Faculties of Engineering and Architecture at University of Naples. He become research associate in Urban Planning (1988) and Associate Professor in Urban Planning Techniques (2001) at University of Salerno. He’s been teaching Urban Planning Techniques, Urban and Territorial Systems Analysis, and Town Planning at the Bachelor degree courses in Civil Engineering (1992), Environmental Engineering (2000) and Architectural Engineering (2005), University of Salerno.

He founded and directed areAVasta, Journal of urban and regional planning (2000-…). He conceived and coordinates UrbIng, supportive and non-hierarchical network of Urban Planning Professors at the Faculties of Engineering, dealing with teaching, research, release of scientific information and advanced training courses (2001-…).

He created Urban and Town Planning Group (GTPU) in the Department of Civil Engineering, University of Salerno, coordinating studies and researches in partnership with many local authorities (2005-…). He teaches in postgraduate schools and masters at Universities of Ferrara, Rome La Sapienza, Calabria, Basilicata, Naples “Federico II”, Marche and Politecnico of Milan and coordinates the Lamav (Laboratorio di Management d’Area Vasta), organized by the National Association of Contractors ans Builders in Salerno.

He is member of the Board of PhD in “Risk and sustainability in Civil, Environmental and Architectural Engineering Systems”.

He worked as Urban Planning councilor for Local Council of Pozzuoli (1993-94) and Pagani (1999-2002), Board member of Atan (1993-94) and collaborates with Public Prosecutors investigating violation against urban planning legislation, in addition to experiencing innovative forms of urban planning.

He is an effective Member of Urban Planning National Institute (Inu) (1985) and President of Inu Campania (2006-2014), he is a member of the National Executive Council (2006-2016), President of National Committee named “Governo del territorio in area vasta” (2008-2011) and Director of Inu Studies Day (2004-2013). He is an effective Member of the Board of Urban Planners Italian Society (2015-…)

He is author of more than three hundreds scientific publication concerning urban planning.
