THE COURSE PROVIDES THE METHODOLOGY AND TOOLS FOR A CLEAR UNDERSTANDING OF COMPUTER NETWORKS. SPECIAL ATTENTION IS PAID TO ARCHITECTURAL DESIGN OF NETWORKS AND THEIR BASIC SERVICES. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE TERMINOLOGY USED IN THE CONTEXT OF COMPUTER NETWORKS, OF THE MODELS USED FOR REPRESENTING NETWORK ARCHITECTURE AND OF NETWORKS DESIGN METHODOLOGY. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING KNOW HOW TO DESCRIBE THE ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN OF A LAN NETWORK AND ITS CONNECTION TO THE INTERNET, AND SERVICES THAT IT WILL PROVIDE BASIC. MAKING JUDGEMENTS BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE MOST APPROPRIATE METHODS FOR DESIGNING AND REALIZING A LOCAL AREA NETWORK AND CONNECTING IT TO THE INTERNET. COMMUNICATION SKILLS ABILITY TO PERFORM AN ORAL PRESENTATION OF COMPUTER NETWORKS ISSUES MAKING USE OF APPROPRIATE SCHEMATICS. TEAM WORKING. LEARNING SKILLS ABILITY TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE TO CONTEXTS DIFFERENT FROM THOSE PRESENTED DURING THE COURSE |

TEACHING METHODS: LECTURES, GUIDED EXERCISES AND LABS. GUIDED TOURS TO NETWORK COMPANIES. THE COURSE PROVIDES THE ASSIGNMENT TO EACH STUDENT OF A PROJECT CONCERNING THE DESIGN OF A LOCAL NETWORK AND ITS CONNECTION TO THE INTERNET. |
Verification of learning | |
---|---|
THE ACHIEVEMENT OF THE TEACHING OBJECTIVES IS CERTIFIED BY PASSING AN EXAMINATION WITH AN EVALUATION IN THIRTIETHS (THE MINIMUM LEVEL OF EXCEEDANCE IS '18' AND THE MAXIMUM IS '30 E'. LODE'), WHICH PROVIDES FOR A SINGLE ORAL TEST, OF AN INDICATIVE DURATION AVERAGE OF 60 MINUTES, AND AIMED AT: 1) VERIFY THE LEARNING OF THE TOPICS COVERED IN THE THEORY HOURS; 2) VERIFY THE GOOD OUTCOME OF THE GROUP PROJECT CARRIED OUT ON THE TOPIC ASSIGNED BY THE 3) TO VERIFY THE ABILITY OF THE SUBJECTS TO BE PRESENTED 4) TO VERIFY THE AUTONOMY OF JUDGEMENT IN PROPOSING THE MOST APPROPRIATE APPROACH TO ARGUE WHAT IS REQUIRED. MORE IN DETAIL, THE ORAL TEST CONSISTS OF TWO QUESTIONS: THE FIRST IS CONCERNING THE PROJECT CARRIED OUT (EXAMPLE: GENERAL DESCRIPTION, RESULTS ACHIEVED, METHODS USED AND IMPLEMENTATION SOLUTIONS CHOICES FOR SPECIFIC PARTS OF THE PROJECT) AND THE SECOND ON ONE OF THE TOPICS THE COURSE IS DESIGNED TO BE USED IN FRONTAL LESSONS (E.G. TYPE AND ARCHITECTURE OF COMPUTER NETWORKS); NETWORK PROTOCOLS, DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A DISTRIBUTED APPLICATION IN A WEB ENVIRONMENT). IN ORDER TO PASS THE EXAM IT IS NECESSARY TO REACH A SUFFICIENT LEVEL BOTH IN THE VERIFICATION OF THE LEARNING OF THE TOPICS DEALT WITH IN THE HOURS OF THEORY THAT IN THE VERIFICATION (REALIZATION AND CAPACITY OF DESCRIPTION) OF THE LABORATORY PROJECT ASSIGNED. THE STUDENT REACHES THE LEVEL OF EXCELLENCE IF HE/SHE DEMONSTRATES THE ABILITY TO TO MAKE LINKS BETWEEN THE THEORETICAL TOPICS COVERED AND DEMONSTRATES FULL MASTERY OF THE ACTIVITIES CARRIED OUT DURING THE PROJECT OF LABORATORY REALIZED. |
