Nicola FEMIA Curriculum

Nicola Femia was born in 1963 in Salerno. He took the Laurea Degree in Industrial Technologies Engineering with honors from the University of Salerno in 1988. He was Assistant Professor from 1990 to 1998, Associate Professor from 1998 to 2001 and since 2001 to date he is Full Professor of Electrotechnics at the University of Salerno. His research interests cover circuit theory, analysis and design methods of high-energy-efficiency power electronic circuits, control techniques and design optimization of power electronics for photovoltaic systems, power magnetics design, storage systems.

He teaches Circuit Theory, Power Electronics aand Energetic Intelligence. He leads the Power Electronics and Renewable Sources Laboratory. He was responsible of numerous research and high education projects funded by industries, including Magnetek, Astrid Energy Enterprises, National Semiconductor, Elettronica Santerno, STMicroelectronics, Power-One, Texas Instruments, Coilcraft. He taught courses of Power Electronics Design and Optimization organized by National Semiconductor in Europe and United States in 2006/2007. He is co-author of more than 140 scientific papers published in international journals and in the proceedings of international conferences. He is co-author of five patent applications. He has been Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics from 1995 to 2003. He has been referee of IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems, Int. Journal of Circuits Systems and Computers, Int. Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, Int. Journal of Simulation Modelling Practice and Theory, IET Power Electronics, Italian Ministry of Research, Israel National Science Foundation. He was Member of the Administration Council of the University of Salerno from 2002 to 2005. He was member, and Chairman from 2009 to 2010, of the Patents Council of the University of Salerno. Prof. Femia is IEEE Senior Member.
