Matteo GAETA Curriculum
Matteo Gaeta earned his degree in Information Science from the University of Salerno. In 2013, he achieved the first-level scientific qualification (competition sector: 09/H1). Since 2018, he has been a full professor in the scientific-disciplinary sector of information processing systems (ING-INF/05) at the University of Salerno, where he served as an associate professor from 2006 to 2018 and as a researcher from 2002 to 2006. Since 2017, he has been a Senior Member of IEEE. His current research interests include complex information systems, DSS and cognitive models; methods, systems, and technologies for e-learning and knowledge representation; computational intelligence, and he is the author of over 200 scientific works published in books, journals, and international conference proceedings.
Currently, he is an associate editor of the Journal Electronics — Open Access Journal – MDPI, as well as a member of the editorial board of other international journals; a reviewer for numerous international journals and conferences; a member of the Computational Intelligence Society and the Italian Chapter of the IEEE Systems Council; the scientific director and coordinator of the research group of the Knowledge Management and Information Systems Laboratory - KnowMIS (DIEM - University of Salerno).
In the past fifteen years, he has been: chair and co-chair of workshops and international conferences of the IEEE Society; program committee member of numerous IEEE Society conferences; associate editor of the Journal of Ambient Intelligence and Humanized Computing - Springer International Publishing (2018-2020) and editor-in-chief and member of the editorial board of other international journals; editor of several books; coordinator of international scientific cooperation (2014-2019) between Nile University (Uganda) and the University of Salerno (models and technologies for the innovation of information systems); coordinator of the MIUR working group of experts for the evaluation and control of industrial research projects ex. art. 14 of D.M. n.593/2000; member and president of various technical-scientific committees of Ministries and research centers in the field of industrial research (Corisa consortium; Ministry of Productive Activities; Ministry of Agricultural and Forestry Policies; best practice award – Confindustria SA); general manager, director, and president, as well as member of the board of directors and the executive council, of: public research bodies; university consortia; research and technology transfer centers (IST - MiPAF; CINI; CeRICT; CRMPA; etc.); co-promoter of several spin-offs of companies and high-tech research centers (Consorzio Arechi Ricerca; CEMSAC; MoMA S.P.A; EMI; etc.); coordinator and scientific director of over 30 national and international research projects; designer of various information systems for large companies and entities; scientific director of research and development agreements between universities and large companies (Poste Italiane; Enel Servizi; etc.); scientific director of various research groups for the implementation of national and European research initiatives (CNR – Civil Protection; ENEA; V and VI FP EU; etc.), participating in over 50 national and European research projects; coordinator of the MIUR panel for the evaluation of projects of the Strategic Program - Advanced Transport and Logistics; member of panels and evaluation committees (MIUR - FAR Wireless Technologies and public-private research laboratories; MISE - Technological Innovation and FIT: Internet of content, services, and things; MiPAF - e-science and agricultural research); evaluator of over 1000 R&D projects for Ministries, Italian Regions, and Agencies and expert-reviewer of over 30 R&D projects of Ministries (MISE, MIUR, MiPAF).
