Objectives
I. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:LECTURES OFFER AN ANALYSIS OF CENTRAL CONTENTS OF THE MODERN WESTERN PHILOSOPHY THROUGH THE DISCUSSION OF ONE OR MORE CRUCIAL PHILOSOPHICAL TEXT(S).

II. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: LESSONS PRESENT A WIDE EXPOSITION OF THE DEBATES ON THE SAME TOPICS ALONG THE PHASES OF THE MODERN PHIOSOPHY, LECTURES SUPPORT COMPETENCES SUCH AS CRITICAL READING AND INTERPRETATION OF PHILOSOPHICAL TEXTS.

A: THE COURSE AIMS TO ANALYZE THE EVOLUTION OF THE IDEA OF VERITAS IN AUGUSTINE'S THOUGHT. IN PARTICULAR, THE COURSE WILL ANALYZE THE 'CONTRA ACADEMICOS' AND THE AGOSTINIAN BUILDING OF A PHILOSOPHICAL METHOD. THE IDEA OF VERITAS CONCEPT WILL BE ANALYZED IN DIFFERENTS WORKS OF AUGUSTINE, FROM THE FIRST DIALOGUES TO THE WORKS ABOUT GRACE AND FREE WILL.

B:MONOTHEMATIC AND SPECIALISTIC STUDY OF THE COMPLETE WORK OF ONE MAIN MEDIEVAL THINKER.

Teaching Methods
FRONTAL LESSONS. LECTURES ON MEDIEVAL AND RENAISSANCE PHILOSOPHICAL LITERATURE AND RELATING DOCUMENTS, WITH GUIDED INTERPRETATION OF TEXTS. DISCUSSIONS ABOUT THE HISTORICAL GROUND, THE THEORETICAL IMPLICATIONS AND THE POSSIBILITY OF ACTUALISATION OF THE CONCERNED QUESTIONS. REGULAR AND ACTIVE PARTICIPATION WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED. NOT ATTENDING STUDENTS SHOULD AGREE UPON EXAM-PROGRAM DIRECTLY WITH THE TEACHER.
Verification of learning
THE TEST CONSISTS OF AN ORAL EXAMINATION TO CHECK THE STUDENT PREPARATION AND THE EQUIPMENT TO USE THE SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE MATERIAL IN THE FIELD OF THE HISTORY OF THE MEDIAEVAL PHILOSOPHY. DURING THE EXAMINATION, IT WILL BE EVALUATED THE SKILL TO COMMUNICATE IN A CLEAR AND UNIVOCOUS WAY ALL THE METHODOLOGICAL ELEMENTS ACQUIRED.
