THE COURSE IS AIMED AT THE ACQUISITION OF KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE NOMENCLATURE AND OF THE CHEMICAL-PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF THE MAIN FUNCTIONAL GROUPS PRESENT IN ORGANIC COMPOUNDS, WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE STEREOCHEMICAL ASPECTS AND TO THE REACTION MECHANISMS OF THE MAIN CLASSES OF ORGANIC REACTIONS. BY APPLYING THE SKILLS ACQUIRED, THE STUDENT MUST BE ABLE TO CRITICALLY DISCUSS THE MECHANISM OF REACTIONS AND SOLVE PROBLEMS RELATED TO THE SYNTHESIS OF ORGANIC MOLECULES. |

THE CHEMICAL BONDING AND STRUCTURE OF ORGANIC MOLECULES. IUPAC NOMENCLATURE, STRUCTURE, PROPERTIES, METHODS OF PREPARATION AND REACTIVITY OF THE MAJOR CLASSES OF ORGANIC COMPOUNDS: ALKANES AND CYCLOALKANES, ALKENES, ALKYNES, CONJUGATED UNSATURATED SYSTEMS, AROMATIC COMPOUNDS, ARENES, HALOGENATED ORGANIC COMPOUNDS, ORGANOMETALLIC COMPOUNDS, ALCOHOLS, PHENOLS AND ETHERS, CARBONYL COMPOUNDS, CARBOXYLIC ACIDS AND FUNCTIONAL DERIVATIVES, AMINES, -DICARBONYL COMPOUNDS, HETEROCYCLIC COMPOUNDS, CARBOHYDRATES . IN THE STUDY OF ORGANIC REACTIONS GREAT EMPHASIS WILL BE GIVEN TO THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF STEREOCHEMISTRY AND TO THE STUDY OF REACTION MECHANISMS THROUGH WHICH TRANSFORMATIONS OF ORGANIC COMPOUNDS CAN BE RATIONALIZED. |

THE COURSE INCLUDES 96 HOURS (12CFU) OF TEACHING DIVIDED BETWEEN 80 HOURS OF FRONTAL LESSONS AND 16 HOURS OF TRAINING EXERCISES, DURING WHICH STUDENTS DIRECTLY APPLY WHAT THE TEACHER INTRODUCES DURING THE LESSON. THE FREQUENCY OF LESSONS AND EXERCISES IS MANDATORY. IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO TAKE THE FINAL EXAM, THE STUDENT MUST HAVE ATTENDED AT LEAST 70% OF THE TEACHING HOURS. |

DURING THE COURSE, INTERACTIVE EXERCISES AND ASSESSMENT TESTS WILL BE PERFORMED (RESOLUTION OF EXERCISES) THE FINAL PREPARATION ASSESSMENT IS CERTIFIED BY AN EVALUATION RANGING FROM 18 TO 30 AND LIES ON A WRITTEN AND AN ORAL TEST. THE WRITTEN TEST IS PREPARATORY TO THE ORAL TEST AND CONSISTS IN A TEST CONCERNING THE PROGRAM OF TEACHING. THE WRITING TEST WILL LAST FOR TWO HOURS AND CONSISTS OF 3 NOMENCLATURE EXERCISES, 1 EXERCISE ON STEREOCHEMISTRY, 5 EXERCISES ON REACTIVITY OF FUNCTIONAL GROUPS, 2 EXERCISES ON MULTISTEPS ORGANIC SYNTHESIS, 2 EXERCISES ON REACTION MECHANISMS. THE ORAL TEST CONSISTS IN A DISCUSSION ON THE THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL CONTENTS INDICATED IN THE PROGRAM OF TEACHING AND IT IS AIMED TO FIND THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE OF THEORETICAL CONTENT AND THE LEVEL OF COMPETENCE REACHED IN THE EXPOSURE: LANGUAGE PROPERTIES, LOGIC - DEDUCTIVE AND SYNTHESIS CAPACITY, ARGUMENTAL CAPACITY, JUDGMENT AUTONOMY IN PROPOSING THE MOST SUITABLE APPROACH TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM REQUIRED |
