Objectives
The general objective of the course is to present the main platforms of commercial Cloud Computing providers (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform), providing both an introduction to the services and then an application of this knowledge through practical and design activities in the laboratory.

Knowledge and understanding
The student:
• will understand how cloud enabling technologies such as virtualisation/containerisation, multitenancy, load balancing, high sustainability are used in the main platforms
• will know the principles applied by the main platforms underlying the design and management of complex information systems in the Cloud
• understand the principles underpinning shared responsibility in key platforms, delivery and deployment models.

Ability to apply knowledge and understanding
The student will be able autonomously to:
• provide for the implementation, verification and maintenance of complex information systems in the Cloud
• use mechanisms for scheduling the use of cloud resources
• design complex systems on the major platforms available

Making judgments
The student will be able to:
• think critically and question design and implementation choices
• understand the relevance of a plurality of viewpoints and alternative approaches
• critically evaluate positive and negative aspects of alternative solutions, taking into consideration quality and cost/effectiveness

Communication skills
The student will be able to:
• communicate clearly and effectively, in written and oral form, to convey knowledge, ideas, problems, solutions and the underlying rationale, adapting the methods of expression to the cultural and professional characteristics of the recipients of the communication
• communicate in Italian and English with technicians and experts with good language skills and showing mastery of technical terminology
• understand and elaborate technical texts in English of medium difficulty

Learning skills
The student will be able to:
• organize one's ideas in a critical and systematic way
• identify, select and collect relevant information through the use of adequate sources
• use libraries and databases to access relevant scientific information
• recognize the need for further studies and additional research activities.
