The BIP project on Digital Humanities (digHuman) aims to foster interdisciplinary collaboration among students from different backgrounds in the field of digital humanities. Digital humanities is an interdisciplinary field combining IT methods, tools, and techniques with humanities disciplines such as: literature, history, linguistics, philosophy, or cultural studies. It aims to explore, analyze, and interpret human culture, history, and expression through the lens of digital technologies.

The project will allow to explore some applications of digital humanities involving text mining and analysis, digital archives, cultural heritage preservation and representation.

The program is characterized by an interactive Challenge-based learning approach. The challenge will be interdisciplinary and relevant to students' lives. This will allow to promote critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, communication, and collaboration skills, preparing students to navigate complex real-world challenges effectively.

During the online period, teachers will deliver synchronous lectures and will provide readings and multimedia resources, so the students will also engage with materials asynchronously. Interactive discussions, brainstorming, teamwork will be used to engage the students and receive immediate feedback.

Where

The program will take place in person at the University of Salerno - Department of Computer Science and it is coordinated by Filomena Ferrucci, in collaboration with two other European universities.

When

The program will take place in person from July 21 to 25, 2025 (5 days).

The virtual component, on the other hand, involves online classes that will take place on the following dates: March 3 - May 30, June 30 and July 11, 2025, with a total duration of 40 hours.
