1980: laurea cum laude in Electronic Engineering (Universita` di Napoli).
1983: research assistant in Fluid Dynamics (Universita` di Napoli).
1992: associate professor of Fluid Dynamics (Universita` di Napoli).
1994: full professor of Gas Dynamics (Politecnico di Milano).
2000: full professor of Fluid Dynamics (Universita` di Salerno).
Paolo Luchini is author or co-author of about 80 scientific papers in international journals, of a large number of contributions to conferences (16 of which in invited workshops) and 8 plenary invited lectures, and of the book "Undulators and Free-Electron Lasers" for Oxford University Press. His citations are available on http://scholar.google.com/citations?user=thlSP34AAAAJ. One of his papers was first in the "most downloaded" list of the Eur. J. Mech. B/Fluids and one other was included in the "ISI Top 1% Most Cited papers". He is regularly consulted as a reviewer by the most renowned scientific journals in fluid dynamics, and from 1999 to 2019 was an associate editor of the European Journal of Mechanics B/Fluids.
He entertains formal or informal collaborations with several universities and research centres in Italy and abroad; extended visits were paid to Oxford University in the years 1984-87, to Lausanne Polytechnic in the years 1995-97, to the Institute of Fluid Mechanics of Toulouse in the years 1998-2017, to the University of California at San Diego in 2004, 2005, 2010, 2015, 2017 and to the University of Western Ontario in 2006.
