THE PHD STUDENT IS EXPECTED TO ACQUIRE A DEEPER KNOWLEDGE ON RECENT CATALYTIC METHODS, USEFUL TO DESIGN SYNTHETIC SEQUENCES LEADING TO THE STEREOSELECTIVE FORMATION OF ORGANIC INTERMEDIATES OF A CERTAIN COMPLEXITY IN CONVENIENT AND SUSTAINABLE MANNER. |
Prerequisites | |
---|---|
KNOWLEDGE OF ORGANIC CHEMISTRY AND SPECTROSCOPIC TECHNIQUES ACQUIRED DURING THE BACHELOR AND MASTER DEGREES. |
Contents | |
---|---|
THE TEACHING LESSONS ARE ABOUT THE CATALYTIC SYSTEMS USEFUL TO OBTAIN IMPORTANT FUNCTIONALIZATIONS OF COMMON STARTING ORGANIC REAGENTS TO OPTICALLY ACTIVE INTERMEDIATES/BUILDING BLOCKS AND ONE-POT REACTIONS LEADING TO MORE COMPLEX HETEROCYCLIC COMPOUNDS OF BIOLOGICAL INTEREST. ORGANIC-, METALLIC AND PHOTOCATALYTIC SYSTEMS WILL BE ILLUSTRATED IN CONCERT, TO SHOW THEIR SYNERGY IN ASYMMETRIC SYNTHESIS. THE REACTIONS INVOLVED IN THE TEACHING LESSONS ARE PREVALENTLY THOSE STUDIED DURING THE PREVIOUS COURSES OF ORGANIC CHEMISTRY OFFERED IN THE BACHELOR AND MASTER DEGREES. SUSTAINABLE FEATURES, STEP-ATOM-, POT-ECONOMIES AS WELL AS THE MECHANISTIC ISSUES INVOLVED IN THE PROCESSES WILL BE HIGHLIGHTED. |
Teaching Methods | |

LECTURING USING SLIDES PRESENTATION AND GROUP DISCUSSION. |
Verification of learning | |
---|---|
FORMATIVE ASSESSMENT IS CERTIFIED BY AN ORAL EXAMINATION VIA PC PRESENTATION DISCUSSING ON A SYNTHETIC PLAN DESIGNED BY THE PHD STUDENT TO PREPARE A MOLECULE INDICATED BY THE TUTOR OF THE COURSE. |
