Mercede MAJ Curriculum

She took her degree in Mathematics in 1976, at the University of Naples, Italy. She won in the years 1975-1976 a CNR scholarship for undergraduate students and in the years 1977-1982 a CNR scholarship for graduate students. From 1982 to 1987 she was Ricercatore Universitario Confermato at the University of Naples, and from 1987 to 1996 Associated Professor of Algebra at the University of Naples. From1996 to 1999 she was  professor in Algebra in the University of Salerno.
She is full Professor in Algebra at the University of Salerno since 1999.
Main research interest is infinite group theory.
She is authors of more than 70 papers published in international journals.
She is also author of two books in Algebra, together with M. Curzio and P. Longobardi, and one in Discrete Mathematics, together with C. Delizia, P. Longobardi and C. Nicotera.
She organized five International Conferences in Group Theory and she is editor of the related Proceedings .
She followed many master thesis and she had 7 PhD students.
Since 1999 she is a member of the " Collegio dei Docenti del Dottorato in Scienze Matematiche, sedi consorziate Universita' di Napoli Federico II, Seconda Universita' di Napoli, Universita' di Salerno".
In the years 1998-2000, 2000-2002, 2002-2004, 2007-2009  she was scientific organizer of the research unit of Salerno, a part of the national project " Group Theory and Applications". Now she is scientific organizer of the research unit of Salerno for the same project for the years 2009-20011 (end of the project October 2013).
From  1996 to 2002, she has been Presidente del  Consiglio di Corso di Laurea in Matematica of  the University of Salerno and from 2002 to 2005 Presidente del Consiglio di Area Didattica in Matematica of the University of Salerno.
She is referee for many international journals.
She is member of U.M.I. and of A.M.S.
