THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE AN INTRODUCTION TO THE HISTORY OF ROMANCE LANGUAGES AND AN INITIAL APPROACH TO MEDIEVAL ROMANCE LITERATURE FROM A LINGUISTIC AND PHILOLOGICAL POINT OF VIEW THROUGH READING PARTICULARLY RELEVANT TEXTS. BY THE END OF THE COURSE, THE STUDENT WILL HAVE ACQUIRED THE BASICS OF ROMANCE HISTORICAL LINGUISTICS, AS WELL AS THE TOOLS TO TRANSLATE AUTONOMOUSLY FROM OLD FRENCH AND FROM MEDIEVAL SPANISH. THE STUDENT WILL STUDY SOME REPRESENTATIVE TEXTS OF MEDIEVAL ROMANCE LITERATURE AND WILL LEARN HOW TO COMPARE AND CONTRAST THEM ON THE BASIS OF ACQUIRED AWARENESS OF THE SUBSTANTIAL UNITARINESS OF MEDIEVAL ROMANCE LITERATURE. |
