Objectives
BUILDING ON EARLIER COURSES ON THE SAME SUBJECT, THE COURSE AIMS TO OFFER MORE ADVANCED KNOWLEDGE OF ROMANCE PHILOLOGY BY PROVIDING STUDENTS WITH THE APPROPRIATE TOOLS AND METHODOLOGIES FOR AUTONOMOUS RESEARCH. THE COURSE HAS AS ITS SUBJECT THE PRINCIPLES AND METHODOLOGIES OF TEXTUAL CRITICISM AS WELL AS THOSE OF DIGITAL PHILOLOGY.

THE COURSE THE PROBLEMS OF THE TRANSMISSION OF THE MEDIEVAL TEXTS, THE PRINCIPLES, METHODOLOGIES AND THE PRACTICES OF THE ECDOTICS APPLIED IN PARTICULAR TO THE PROBLEMS OF THE EDITION OF A MEDIEVAL TEXT, WILL BE ADDRESSED TRANSMISSION OF NON-CANONICAL TEXTS OR SUBJECT TO A MORE MODERN AND TRANSMEDIATE TRANSMISSION. THE COURSE WILL INCLUDE THEORETICAL LESSONS, BUT ALSO PRACTICAL ACTIVITIES: THE STUDENTS, GUIDED BY THE TEACHER, WILL LEARN TO CONSULT THE DIGITIZED MANUSCRIPTS, TO TRANSCRIBE THEM, COLLECT THEM AND COMMENT THE LINGUISTIC AND / OR INTERESTING LITERARY ASPECTS.
Teaching Methods
THE COURSE INCLUDES A THEORETICAL PART DURING WHICH THE STUDENT WILL LEARN THE TRADITIONAL METHODS AND TECHNIQUES OF TEXTUAL CRITICISM. THE THEORY WILL ALWAYS BE SUPPORTED BY AN APPLICATION REVIEW OF THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE. THE STUDENT, THEREFORE, WILL BE ENGAGED IN TRANSCRIPTION AND COLLATIO EXERCISES OF BOTH MEDIEVAL (MANUSCRIPTS) AND MODERN TEXTS. A PART OF THE COURSE, DEDICATED TO THE TRANSMEDIAL ASPECT, OF THE TRANSMISSION OF CULTURE, WILL INVOLVE THE STUDENT IN THE RESEARCH AND IN THE ANALYSIS OF THE VARIOUS PROCESSES, TECHNIQUES AND METHODOLOGIES THAT CHARACTERIZING THE REMODULATION OF A LITERARY TEXT IN OTHER CULTURAL MODULAR AREAS.
Verification of learning
ACHIEVEMENT OF THE OBJECTIVES OF THE TEACHING IS CERTIFIED BY PASSING AN ORAL EXAM WITH ASSESSMENT IN THIRTYTHS. FOR ATTENDING STUDENTS, THE ORAL EXAMINATION INCLUDES THE EXPOSURE OF A PREPARED PROCESS DURING THE LABORATORY EXERCISES PROVIDED DURING THE COURSE, PRODUCED BY THE STUDENT IN AN AUTONOMIC WAY. THE ELABORATE CONSISTS IN THE PHILOLOGICAL STUDY OF A PARTICULAR TEXT, EXEMPLED, CONNECTED WITH OTHER COPIES, PROVIDED WITH A SHORT LANGUAGE INTRODUCTION AND A CRITICAL APPARATUS AND COMMENTARY NOTES. THE PROCESS IS FINALIZED TO VERIFY THE ABILITIES TO CORRECTLY APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICES OF ECDOTICS TO TEXTS DIFFERENT BOTH FROM THE CHRONOLOGICAL, STYLISTIC AND THEMATIC POINT OF VIEW, LANGUAGE AND THE ABILITY TO RELATE IN WRITING MODE. IN THE DISCUSSION THE STUDENT WILL ILLUSTRATE THE PROBLEMS POSED BY THE ASSIGNED TEXT, THE METHODOLOGICAL SETTING ADOPTED, THE ANALYSIS OF THE CRITICAL LOCS FOUND AND THE ANALYSIS OF THE ADVANCED CONJECTURES. THE ABILITY TO EXPOSURE, BOTH THE ABILITY TO LEARN AND ADVANCE CONJECTS OR DEVELOP SOLUTIONS INAUTONOMIC JUDGMENT. FOR NON ATTENDING STUDENTS THE FINAL TEST CONSISTS OF AN INTERVIEW WITH QUESTIONS AND DISCUSSION ON THE THEORETICAL AND METHODOLOGICAL CONTENT INDICATED IN THE PROGRAM OF THE TEACHING AND IS AIMED TO VERIFYING THE LEVEL OF KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY OF UNDERSTANDING ACQUIRED BY THE STUDENT, AS WELL AS THE EXPERIENCE AT THE EXPERTISE.
