Objectives
OBIETTIVI FORMATIVI
THE COURSE CONCERNS THE FUNDAMENTAL LINES OF THE HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE GREEK AND ROMAN WORLD THROUGH THE MAIN TYPOLOGIES RELATING TO ARCHITECTURAL AND URBANISTIC TESTIMONIES, TO PAINTING, TO CERAMICS AND TO SCULPTURE.

KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE STUDENT WILL ACHIEVE:
- A BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL DOCUMENTATION OF THE GREEK AND ROMAN WORLD IN ITS VARIOUS CHARACTERISTICS IN RELATION TO THE CORRESPONDING HISTORICAL PERIODS.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- IDENTIFY AND FRAME THE MATERIAL PRODUCTIONS IN THEIR HISTORICAL AND ARTISTIC CONTEXT
- USE SUITABLE METHODOLOGICAL TOOLS FOR READING AND INTERPRETING THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL DOCUMENT AS AN INSTRUMENT OF HISTORICAL DOCUMENTATION;
- REFER THE ARCHAEOLOGICAL MATERIALS TO A TOPOGRAPHICAL, CHRONOLOGICAL AND HISTORICAL-ARTISTIC CONTEXT;
- CONNECT POPULATIONS AND TERRITORIAL COMMUNITIES TO HISTORICAL, SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.

Prerequisites
THE PREPARATION OF THE TWO MODULES REQUIRES A GOOD KNOWLEDGE OF HISTORY GREEK AND ROMAN HISTORY, AND THE ABILITY TO FRAME THE DOCUMENTATION ARTISTIC AND CULTURAL IN TIME AND SPACE.

BY ACQUIRING OF ADEQUATE METHODOLOGICAL TOOLS FOR READING OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL DOCUMENTS AS AN INSTRUMENT FOR HISTORICAL INTERPRETATION, IT WILL BE POSSIBLE TO PROVIDE A BASIC UNDERSTANDING OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL RECORDS OF THE CLASSICAL WORLD IN GREEK AND ROMAN AGES CONSIDERED IN ITS VARIOUS MANIFESTATIONS, AND TO DEVELOP THE ABILITY TO IDENTIFY AND FRAME MATERIAL PRODUCTIONS IN THEIR HISTORICAL AND ARTISTIC CONTEXT.
THE COURSE IS DIVIDED INTO TWO MODULES:
-INTRODUCTION TO CLASSICAL ARCHAEOLOGY (10 HOURS): IT WILL BE PROVIDED BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF CLASSICAL ARCHAEOLOGY AND METHODOLOGICAL TOOLS;
IN THE TWO PARTS IT WILL BE EXPLORED THE ARTISTIC, ARCHITECTONICAL AND URBANISTIC PRODUCTIONS IN THE GREEK AND ROMAN WORLD:
PART I - GREEK ARCHAEOLOGY AND ART HISTORY (25 HOURS);
PART II - ROMAN ARCHAEOLOGY AND ART HISTORY (25 HOURS).

Teaching Methods
-FRONTAL LESSONS (SUPPORTED BY THE USE OF GRAPHIC AND PHOTOGRAPHIC DOCUMENTATION);
-PRACTICAL EXERCISES TO DEEPEN THE TOPICS OF THE LESSONS;
-VISIT OF MUSEUMS AND ARCHAEOLOGICAL AREAS;
-INTEGRATIVE EDUCATIONAL WORKSHOPS TO BE DEDICATED TO THE DESCRIPTION / READING OF AN ARTIFACT (ARCHITECTURAL, SCULPTURAL, PAINTING EXAMPLES) AND TO THE COMMENT OF PLANTS AND PLANS.
DURING THE LECTURES THE MAIN BIBLIOGRAPHICAL TOOLS WILL BE PROVIDED AND COMMENTED, AND THE TOPICS WILL BE DISCUSSED WITH IMAGES (POWER POINT) THAT WILL BE AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE PROGRAM AND WILL BE THE BASIS FOR EXERCISES AND WORKSHOPS.
Verification of learning
THE EXAM INCLUDES A FINAL ORAL EXAM, DURING WHICH THE STUDENT WILL DEMONSTRATE:
-THE CRITICAL ACQUISITION OF THE MAIN DISCIPLINARY CONTENTS;
-A KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE BASIC ASPECTS OF THE TEACHING;
-A SUFFICIENT SKILLS;
-A GOOD EXAMINATION COMMUNICATION SKILLS.
