Objectives
GENERAL OBJECTIVES
THE COURSE AIMS AT PROVIDING IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF THE MAIN SPECULATIVE ORIENTATIONS, THEMES AND FIGURES IN THE HISTORY OF WESTERN PHILOSOPHICAL THOUGHT.

KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- KNOW IN DEPTH AND UNDERSTAND THE MAIN SPECULATIVE ORIENTATIONS, THEMES AND FIGURES OF THINKERS THAT HAVE CHARACTERIZED THE HISTORY OF WESTERN THOUGHT;
- ACQUIRE THE MAIN TOOLS OF HISTORIOGRAPHIC INVESTIGATION AIMED AT PROVIDING SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE OF A HISTORICAL-PHILOSOPHICAL NATURE;
- KNOW AND UNDERSTAND THE CONCEPTUAL AND PHILOSOPHICAL ROOTS WITHIN THE BROADER CONTEXT OF THE FORMATION AND HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF SCIENTIFIC AND CULTURAL HORIZONS.

ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION
THROUGH THE STUDY OF THE DISCIPLINE, THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING ACQUIRED IN-DEPTH DURING THE COURSE, IN PARTICULAR THROUGH TEXT READING EXPERIENCES AND AN APPROACH TO THE MAIN SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE;
- ACQUIRE THE ABILITY TO PLACE THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED IN BOTH A DIACHRONIC AND SYNCHRONIC CONTEXT TO CONTEXTUALIZE AND RELATE THE DIFFERENT SPECULATIVE FIGURES AND TRADITIONS;
- USE THE CATEGORIES AND SPECIFIC VOCABULARY OF THE DISCIPLINE AND ALSO IN AN INTERDISCIPLINARY DIRECTION.


SELF-ASSESSMENT
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- AUTONOMOUSLY INTERPRET AND RE-ELABORATE THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE IN VIEW OF THE MATURATION OF A CRITICAL SPIRIT AND THE RESPONSIBILITY OF “THINKING FOR ONESELF”;
- KNOW HOW TO IDENTIFY PROBLEMS AND SELECT FROM THE KNOWLEDGE LEARNED;
- ACQUIRE THE ABILITY TO CRITICALLY UNDERSTAND THE MEANING OF THE HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF THOUGHT, ALSO IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE MEANING OF THE STUDY OF THE PAST IN THE LIGHT OF THE PRESENT AND FOR THE CONFIGURATION OF THE FUTURE;
- CRITICALLY UNDERSTAND THE SENSE OF COMPLEXITY AND THE INTERTWINING OF KNOWLEDGE AND LANGUAGES;
- CRITICALLY UNDERSTAND THE PLURALITY OF DIFFERENT CULTURAL TRADITIONS.

COMMUNICATIVE SKILLS
THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- ORGANIZE AND SYSTEMATIZE THE RESULTS ACHIEVED;
- PARTICIPATE IN SEMINARS AND DEBATES, INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL, ADEQUATELY EXPOSING THEIR POSITIONS ON THE BASIS OF KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED
- DIALOGUE WITH AND RECOGNIZE THE REASONS OF THE OTHER
- DEAL WITH PARTICIPATION IN GROUP WORK.

THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO:
- KNOW HOW TO USE A HISTORICAL-CONCEPTUAL "TOOLBOX";
- KNOW HOW TO EXERCISE PROBLEM SOLVING SKILLS THROUGH REASONING APPROPRIATE TO THE CONTEXT AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF CRITICAL JUDGMENT;
- CONFRONT AND SHARE EFFECTIVELY, WITH CORRECT ARGUMENTATION AND EXPOSITION, THE RESULTS ACCRUED;
- CARRY OUT THEMATIC IN-DEPTH STUDIES.

AT THE END OF THE COURSE OF LECTURES, IN THE ORAL EXAM, THE STUDENST HAVE TO DEMONSTRATE ADEQUATE KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF THE TOPIC.
