THE COURSE AIMS TO DEEPEN THE KNOWLEDGE OF GERMANIC PHILOLOGY ALREADY ACQUIRED BY THE STUDENT IN THE PREVIOUS COURSE OF STUDY. AT THE END OF THE LESSONS, STUDENTS WILL HAVE A GOOD ABILITY TO ANALYZE LITERARY DOCUMENTS AND THEIR RELATIONSHIPS FROM A PHILOLOGICAL AND HISTORICO-CULTURAL POINT OF VIEW. IN ADDITION, STUDENTS WILL HAVE ACQUIRED AN APPRECIABLE PREPARATION ON INDIVIDUAL ASPECTS OF THE DISCIPLINE: ECDOTIC OF MEDIEVAL GERMANIC TEXTS; DEEPENING OF THE PROBLEMS OF GERMANIC LINGUISTICS (PHONETICS, MORPHOLOGY, SYNTAX, VOCABULARY) WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO ANGLO-SAXON AND OLD HIGH GERMAN; KNOWLEDGE AND MASTERY OF THE MAIN TOOLS FOR STUDYING MEDIEVAL GERMANIC LANGUAGES (LEXICONS, GRAMMARS, CRITICAL EDITIONS). KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING STUDENTS WILL: - ACQUIRE A GOOD COMMAND OF THE INDIVIDUAL ASPECTS OF THE DISCIPLINE (HISTORICAL, LINGUISTIC, LITERARY ONE) IN RELATION TO THE DIFFERENT DOMAINS OF THE GERMANIC AREA (GOTHIC, ENGLISH, GERMAN, NORDIC); - ACQUIRE THE FUNDAMENTAL PRINCIPLES OF THE ECDOTICS OF MEDIEVAL TEXTS IN THE GERMANIC AREA. APPLYING KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO: - FIND IN THE PAST WHAT ALLOWS THEM TO BETTER UNDERSTAND AND DOMINATE TODAY’S ENGLISH AND GERMAN IN A MORE CONSCIOUS AND RATIONAL WAY; - FULLY MASTER THE PHILOLOGICAL-LITERARY METHODS OF ANALYSIS. MAKING JUDGEMENTS STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO: - INDEPENDENTLY ANALYZE THE LITERARY DOCUMENTS AND THEIR RELATIONSHIPS FROM A PHILOLOGICAL AND A HISTORICO-CULTURAL POINT OF VIEW; - SAFELY DOMINATE THE FUNDAMENTAL THEORETICAL PROBLEMS OF THE DISCIPLINE. COMMUNICATION SKILLS STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO: - CRITICALLY ILLUSTRATE THE MOST SPECIFIC THEORETICAL PROBLEMS OF THE DISCIPLINE, PROVIDING THOROUGH EXAMPLES. LEARNING SKILLS STUDENTS WILL BE ABLE TO: - CRITICALLY AND AUTONOMOUSLY CONNECT THE PHILOLOGICAL SKILLS ACQUIRED WITH THE KNOWLEDGE LEARNT IN THE MOST SIMILAR COURSES OF STUDY (GENERAL LINGUISTICS, MEDIEVAL HISTORY, ROMANCE PHILOLOGY). |
