Agostino CASAPULLO Curriculum

Born in Naples (Italy) on May 25th 1961.
Current position: Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry at the Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences Department (FarmaBioMed) of the University of Salerno.
Academic qualification: Degree in Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Technologies at the University of Naples "Federico II" summa cum laude.
Teaching activity: Classes of Organic Chemistry, Biorganic Chemistry, Physiscal Methods in Organic Chemistry, and Laboratory of Organic Spectroscopy at the Faculty of Pharmacy, University of Salerno.
Research activity: 1990-1997 research fellowships at the Chemistry of the Natural Products Department, University of Naples, Institute for the Chemistry of Biological Interesting Molecules of C.N.R., Naples and the Pharmaceutical Sciences Department at the University of Salerno. 1998-2000 NMR lab manager at the Pharmaceutical Sciences Department at the University of Salerno. 2000-2006: Researcher in Organic Chemistry at the same Department. 2006-: Associate Professor of Organic Chemistry at FarmaBioMed.
Foreign research activity 2001-2002: Visiting Scientist at Michael Barber Center for Mass Spectrometry (MBCMS) of UMIST, Manchester, UK.
Research interests: a) isolation and spectroscopic characterization of marine bioactive secondary metabolites b) analysis of ligand-receptor interactions and enzyme inhibition mechanism of bioactive natural products by combined approaches (mass spectrometry, circular dichroism, molecular modeling). c) chemical proteomics studies (affinity chromatography, 1 and 2D gel electrophoresis, tandem mass spectrometry, bioinformatics) in target discovery of bioactive natural products.
Publications: fifty papers on international peer-reviewed journals, a book chapter, and a lot of participations at national and international conferences.
