Objectives
GENERAL OBJECTIVE:
THE COURSE AIMS TO DEEPEN KNOWLEDGE OF THE THEORETICAL TOOLS OF MICROECONOMIC AND MACROECONOMIC LABOUR MARKET MODELS (BOTH ON THE SUPPLY AND DEMAND SIDES OF THE LABOUR MARKET) . A FURTHER OBJECTIVE IS TO UNDERSTAND THE MECHANISMS UNDERLYING THE SELECTION, REMUNERATION AND INCENTIVE MODELS OF PERSONNEL ECONOMICS OR THE ORGANISATION OF HUMAN RESOURCES WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE PROBLEMS SPECIFIC TO THE TOURISM SECTOR
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY TO UNDERSTAND: THE STUDENT WILL ACQUIRE THE KNOWLEDGE NEEDED TO UNDERSTAND THE EFFECTS OF VARIATIONS IN FUNDAMENTAL VARIABLES SUCH AS WAGES, BENEFITS AND REGULATIONS ON LABOUR SUPPLY AND DEMAND. FURTHERMORE, HE/SHE WILL BE ABLE TO UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEMS ARISING FROM THE PRESENCE OF INFORMATION ASYMMETRIES AND HOW METHODS/MODELS OF PERSONNEL SELECTION, REMUNERATION PLANS AND INCENTIVES STIMULATE THE COMMITMENT OF WORKERS AND ENTERPRISES NOT TO BEHAVE UNFAIRLY. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: AT A BUSINESS LEVEL, STUDENTS WILL HAVE THE ABILITY TO PROFESSIONALLY AND EFFECTIVELY APPLY THEORETICAL MODELS THAT EXPLAIN THE RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN EMPLOYERS (PUBLIC AND PRIVATE) AND EMPLOYEES AND TO UNDERSTAND HOW PUBLIC POLICIES INTERVENE IN THESE AREAS, ALSO WITH REFERENCE TO RECENT QUANTITATIVE ANALYSES. FURTHERMORE, THEY WILL BE ABLE TO EXAMINE AND EVALUATE IN PRACTICE A SELECTION METHOD, A REMUNERATION PLAN OR AN INCENTIVE SYSTEM, AS WELL AS DISCUSS THE PROCESSES OF RECRUITMENT AND TERMINATION OF A FIXED-TERM AND OPEN-ENDED EMPLOYMENT RELATIONSHIP,
AUTONOMY OF JUDGEMENT: THE STUDENT IS EXPECTED TO BE ABLE TO EVALUATE THE EFFECTS OF POLICIES ON ECONOMIC CONDITIONS AND THE CHOICES OF HOUSEHOLDS AND INDIVIDUALS. HE/SHE WILL BE ABLE TO SELECT THE MOST EFFECTIVE AND EFFICIENT METHODS OF SELECTION AND INCENTIVES. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO USE APPROPRIATE VOCABULARY TO DISCUSS LABOUR ECONOMICS AND PERSONNEL ECONOMICS. LEARNING SKILLS: THE STUDENT WILL BE ABLE TO USE TRADITIONAL BIBLIOGRAPHICAL TOOLS AND COMPUTERISED ARCHIVING RESOURCES; - TO CARRY OUT RESEARCH ACTIVITIES, UNDERSTAND AND INTERPRET COMPLEX TEXTS, TO CONTINUOUSLY UPDATE THEIR KNOWLEDGE, USING TECHNICAL AND SCIENTIFIC LITERATURE

THE RESULTS WILL BE ASSESSED THROUGH AN ORAL EXAM (WITH THREE QUESTIONS AND LAST 20 MINUTES) AS FREE CHOICE "ONLY" FOR THE STUDENTS WHO FOLLOW THE TEACHING, AND DURING THE TEACHING, IS POSSIBLE TO SPLIT THE EXAM, PRESENTING 1 OR 2 PROJECTS ON THE TOPICS
