Objectives
THE EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES AND COMPETENCE TO BE ACQUIRED:
THE COURSE AIMS TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH THE BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF THE PRINCIPLES, METHODS AND TOOLS UNDERLYING NUMERICAL CARTOGRAPHY AND GIS WITH PARTICULAR ATTENTION TO THE COMPUTATIONAL ASPECTS CONCERNING THE GEOREFERENCING, MODIFICATION, UPDATING, MANAGEMENT AND INTEGRATION OF GRAPHIC FILES AND ALPHANUMERIC DATABASES.
KNOWLEDGE AND COMPREHENSION SKILLS:
UNDERSTANDING AND CORRECT USE OF TERMINOLOGY USED IN CARTOGRAPHY AND GIS, IN PARTICULAR WITH REGARD TO COORDINATE SYSTEMS AND CARTOGRAPHIC REPRESENTATIONS.
ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING:
TO DEVELOP OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES FOR THE PERFORMANCE OF SOME BASIC GIS OPERATIONS, TO BE ABLE TO PERFORM TERRITORIAL ANALYSIS THROUGH THE ORGANIZATION, INTERROGATION AND PROCESSING OF GEO-REFERENCED DATA.
AUTONOMY OF JUDGEMENT:
TO BE ABLE TO MAKE APPROPRIATE CHOICES FOR THE ANALYSIS OF ENVIRONMENTAL DATA IN A GIS ENVIRONMENT.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
BEING ABLE TO WORK IN A TEAM, BEING ABLE TO EXPRESS THEMSELVES WITH A TECHNICAL LANGUAGE ON ISSUES RELATED TO CARTOGRAPHY AND GIS.
ABILITY TO LEARN:
BEING ABLE TO APPLY THE ACQUIRED KNOWLEDGE TO CONTEXTS DIFFERENT FROM THOSE PRESENTED DURING THE COURSE, AND TO DEEPEN THE TOPICS COVERED USING MATERIALS DIFFERENT FROM THOSE PROPOSED.
Prerequisites
IN ORDER TO SUCCESSFULLY ATTEND THE COURSE, THE STUDENT SHOULD HAVE GIVEN THE EXAM OF TOPOGRAFIA.
