Prerequisites
BASIC PREREQUISITE ARE IN DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF THE GENERAL CHARACTERS, THE PRINCIPAL EVENTS AND THE SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC PROCESSES OF ITALIAN, EUROPEAN AND WORLDWIDE HISTORY FROM THE RESTORATION TO THE END OF XX CENTURY.
THE STUDENTS WITH A LOWER PREPARATION FIND FURTHER INDICATIONS IN THE SECTION “OTHER INFORMATIONS”.

WITHIN THE TRAINING AVAILABLE, THIS COURSE AIMS AT DEVELOPING KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITY OF ANALYSIS OF THE REALITY OF THE CONTEMPORARY HISTORY.
AFTER AN INTRODUCTION ON THE GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE CONTEMPORARY ERA, THE COURSE WILL BE FOCUSED ON THE FOLLOWING TOPICS:

- SALVADOR ALLENDE GOVERNMENT AND THE “GOLPE” OF AUGUSTO PINOCHET;
- THE INTERNATIONAL AND THE ITALIAN REACTION; BERLINGUER AND THE “COMPROMESSO STORICO”;
- THE CHILEAN DICTATORSHIP, THE POLITICAL REACTION IN THE LATIN-AMERICAN COUNTRY AND THE WORLD SOCIAL OPPOSITION;
- SPORT AGAINST DICTATORSHIP: THE FINAL OF THE 1976 DAVIS CUP IN SANTIAGO.

Teaching Methods
THE COURSE PROVIDES FOR 36 HOURS OF TEACHING (6 CFU), WITH THE FOLLOWING METHODOLOGIES:
LESSONS ON WIDE SUBJECTS, FOLLOLWED BY DISCUSSION WITH THE STUDENTS;
READING OF TEXTS, WITH ANALYSIS AND DISCUSSION OF THEIR CONTENTS;
PROJECTION OF AUDIO-VISUAL MATERIALS
Verification of learning
THE FINAL ORAL PROOF IS BASED ON QUESTIONS CONCERNING THE ISSUES ON WHICH STUDENTS CAN FIND A SUFFICIENT INFORMATION IN THE BOOKS AND THE OTHER MATERIALS OFFERED BY THE TEACHER.
THE WHOLE PROOF WILL BE EXTENDED SO LONG AS NECESSARY FOR ASCERTAINING NOT ONLY THE STUDENT’S KNOWLEDGE OF THE CONTENTS, BUT ALSO HER/HIS ABILITY TO EXPRESS THEM CORRECTLY.
