THE COURSE PROMOTES THE SOCIOLOGICAL UNDERSTANDING OF CULTURAL AND COMMUNICATION PROCESSES, ORIENTING TOWARDS A CONSCIOUS USE OF COMMUNICATION TO FOSTER INCLUSION AND INTEGRATION. THE LAB PROPOSES THE STUDY OF A CASE OF HYBRIDISATION AND CONTAMINATION BETWEEN DIFFERENT CULTURES, PROPOSES A HISTORICAL AND LINGUISTIC-LITERARY ANALYSIS, AND COMPARES ITS SUCCESSES AND CRITICALITIES. EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES - KNOWLEDGE AND CAPACITY TO UNDERSTAND: TO KNOW THE MAIN THEORIES OF THE SOCIOLOGY OF CULTURE AND COMMUNICATION AND TO LEARN THE MOST ADVANCED DEVELOPMENTS OF THIS DISCIPLINE, WHICH STRONGLY TOUCH UPON THE PROBLEMS OF INTERCULTURE AND INTERCULTURAL MEDIATION PRACTICES. - CAPABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: TO BE ABLE TO ANALYSE SPECIFIC CASES OF CULTURAL CONFLICTS FROM THE POINT OF VIEW OF THE SOCIOLOGY OF CULTURE AND THE METHODS FOR RESPECTFUL COMMUNICATION CAPABLE OF FOSTERING INCLUSION AND INTEGRATION. SUCH KNOWLEDGE ALSO REFERS TO MIGRATIONS, IN ORDER TO UNDERSTAND THE PROCESS OF SOCIAL AND CULTURAL INTEGRATION. |
Teaching Methods | |

THE COURSE COMPRISES THEORETICAL LECTURES AND CLASSROOM EXERCISES FOR A TOTAL OF 36 HOURS OF TEACHING. THE LECTURES WILL PROVIDE KNOWLEDGE ON THE OBJECTS OF SOCIOLOGY OF COMMUNICATION AND RESEARCH APPROACHES. THE EXERCISES WILL BE AIMED AT PROVIDING METHODOLOGICAL TOOLS FOR THE ANALYSIS OF COMMUNICATION. DURING THE EXERCISES, STUDENTS WILL BE ASKED TO SOLVE METHODOLOGICAL PROBLEMS RELATING TO THE EMPIRICAL TRANSLATION OF CONCEPTS, THE ANALYSIS OF DIGITAL CONTEXTS FOR DISCUSSION, AND THE INTERPRETATION OF SECONDARY DATA. ATTENDANCE AT THE COURSE IS NOT COMPULSORY BUT STRONGLY RECOMMENDED. THE WORKSHOP WILL BE DIVIDED INTO WORKING GROUPS, FREELY TRAINED BY THE STUDENTS, WHICH WILL ADDRESS ISSUES RELATED TO THE CULTURE, LITERATURE, CUSTOMS OF LATIN AMERICA AND/OR ITS RELATIONS WITH EUROPE AND ITALY. ATTENDANCE IS COMPULSORY. |

THE EXAMINATION WILL CONSIST OF A WRITTEN TEST AND AN ORAL INTERVIEW ON THE COURSE CONTENT. THE WRITTEN TEST - LASTING 60 MINUTES - WILL CONSIST OF MULTIPLE-CHOICE QUESTIONS, OPEN-ENDED QUESTIONS AND METHODOLOGICAL EXERCISES AND WILL BE MARKED IN THIRTIETHS. THE FINAL TEST OF THE WORKSHOP WILL CONSIST IN THE PRESENTATION OF THE GROUP WORK STUDENTS WHO DO NOT PASS THE WRITTEN TEST WILL ALSO BE ALLOWED TO TAKE THE ORAL TEST. THE ORAL INTERVIEW WILL TAKE INTO ACCOUNT: - KNOWLEDGE OF COMMUNICATION THEORIES AND CATEGORIES OF SOCIAL ANALYSIS; - THE QUALITY OF PRESENTATION AND USE OF APPROPRIATE LANGUAGE; - THE ABILITY TO REASON AND CROSS-REFERENCE THE VARIOUS TOPICS OF THE COURSE; - THE METHODOLOGICAL AWARENESS OF THE REQUIREMENTS OF SOCIAL RESEARCH. FOR THE COURSE PARTICIPANTS, THERE WILL BE AN INTER-COURSE TESTS WITH THE ATTRIBUTION OF A GRADE THE INTER-COURSE TEST - LASTING 60 MINUTES - WILL CONSIST OF MULTIPLE-CHOICE QUESTIONS, OPEN-ENDED QUESTIONS AND METHODOLOGICAL EXERCISES AND WILL BE GRADED IN THIRTIETHS.
