THE COURSE CONSISTS OF 60 HOURS OF LECTURES. EACH LESSON IS STRUCTURED IN A THEORETICAL PART AND A PART OF APPLICATIONS IN CASE STUDIES. GIVEN THE CHARACTERISTICS OF THE DISCIPLINE, THE ATTENDANCE IS STRONGLY RECOMMENDED, ALTHOUGH NOT MANDATORY. STUDENTS WHO DECIDE NOT TO ATTEND CLASSES ARE ADVISED TO FOLLOW THE SYLLABUS AND THE SCHEDULED TOPICS TO BE IN SYNC WITH THE MATERIAL COVERED IN CLASS. |

THE EVALUATION IS BASED ON A WRITTEN TEST (MANDATORY) AND AN ORAL EXAMINATION (FACULTATIVE). THE WRITTEN TEST (ONE HOUR AND A HALF) IS PREPARATORY FOR THE ORAL EXAMINATION. THE TRACK OF THE WRITTEN TEST INCLUDES SEVERAL QUESTIONS WORTH 1-8 POINTS (EXPRESSLY INDICATED ON THE TRACK), FOR A TOTAL SCORE OF 30. IT IS ORGANIZED IN TWO PARTS: THEORY (OPEN QUESTIONS, 8 POINTS IN TOTAL) AND PRACTICAL NUMERICAL EXERCISES (22 POINTS IN TOTAL). THE WRITTEN TEST IS PASSED WHEN THE STUDENT ACHIEVES AT LEAST 18 POINTS (WITH A MINIMUM OF 4 POINTS FROM THE FIRST PART AND A MINIMUM OF 11 POINTS FROM THE SECOND PART). THE ORAL EXAMINATION (FACULTATIVE) IS AN IN-DEPTH DISCUSSION ABOUT THE TOPICS OF THE WRITTEN TEST. THE EVALUATION OF THE ORAL TEST RANGES FROM A MINIMUM OF -4 POINTS (NEGATIVE SCORE) UP TO A MAXIMUM OF 4 POINTS. THE FINAL VOTE OF THE EXAM IS CALCULATED AS THE SUM OF THE SCORES FROM THE WRITTEN TEST AND THE ORAL TEST (IF ANY). THE EXAM IS PASSED IF THE FINAL VOTE REACHES THE MINIMUM OF 18. |
