EXPECTED LEARNING OUTCOMES AND SKILLS TO BE ACQUIRED: TO ACQUIRE THE SKILLS NECESSARY FOR THE CHARACTERIZATION OF THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CONTAMINATED SITES AND FOR THE SUBSEQUENT PROPOSITION OF SAFETY AND/OR REMEDIATION INTERVENTIONS. KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: KNOW THE REFERENCE REGULATORY FRAMEWORK. ACQUIRE KNOWLEDGE ON TECHNICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS RELATED TO SOIL POLLUTION, THE PROCEDURAL PROCEDURE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF THE PLAN FOR THE CHARACTERIZATION OF A POTENTIALLY CONTAMINATED SITE, THE OPERATING PRINCIPLES AS WELL AS THE APPLICABILITY OF THE MAIN SECURITY AND REMEDIATION TECHNOLOGIES. ABILITY TO APPLY KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING: KNOWING HOW TO FRAME THE SPECIFIC CHARACTERISTICS OF A SITE. KNOWING HOW TO DRAW UP A PLAN FOR THE CHARACTERIZATION OF A POTENTIALLY CONTAMINATED AREA IN ORDER TO RECONSTRUCT THE CONTAMINATION PHENOMENA OF ENVIRONMENTAL MATRICES. ABILITY TO DESIGN REMEDIATION/SAFETY INTERVENTIONS WITH REFERENCE TO THE DIFFERENT TECHNOLOGICAL SOLUTIONS AND VARIABLE ENVIRONMENTAL CHARACTERISTICS OF THE SITE IN EXAMINATION. MAKING JUDGMENTS: BE ABLE TO IDENTIFY THE MOST SUITABLE INVESTIGATION TECHNIQUES FOR THE CHARACTERIZATION OF THE PHENOMENON OF CONTAMINATION AND TO SELECT THE MOST APPROPRIATE INTERVENTION TECHNIQUES TO REDUCE THE HEALTH RISK ASSOCIATED WITH THE CONTAMINATED SITE. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: KNOWING HOW TO PRESENT AND DISCUSS THE RESULTS DERIVING FROM THE DEVELOPMENT OF PLANS OF CHARACTERIZATION. KNOWING HOW TO WORK IN A GROUP. CAPACITY TO LEARN: KNOWING HOW TO APPLY THE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED DURING THE COURSE TO CASES OF POTENTIAL CONTAMINATION DIFFERENT FROM THOSE ILLUSTRATED DURING THE COURSE. |

THE CRITERIA FOR THE SELECTION OF POSSIBLE TECHNOLOGICAL ALTERNATIVES AND FOR THE CHOICE OF THE INTERVENTION TO IMPLEMENT. |
Teaching Methods | |
---|---|
THE COURSE CONSISTS OF THEORETICAL LESSONS (48 HOURS/4.8 CFU) AND CLASSROOM EXERCISES (12 HOURS/1.2 CFU). THE CLASSROOM EXERCISES INTEND TO PROVIDE STUDENT ENGINEERS WITH THE ABILITY TO: I) ESTIMATE THE TRANSPORT FACTORS OF CONTAMINANTS IN ENVIRONMENTAL MATRICES, THROUGH THE SIMULATION OF USEFUL SCENARIOS FOR THE APPLICATION OF CONCEPTS ILLUSTRATED IN THE THEORETICAL LESSONS; II) PROCESS THE RISK ANALYSIS, ALSO THROUGH THE USE OF SOFTWARE; III) TO ACQUIRE THE DESIGN ELEMENTS OF THE MAIN REMEDIATION TECHNOLOGIES. TECHNICAL VISITS TO SITES CHARACTERIZED BY POTENTIAL CONTAMINATION PROBLEMS ARE ALSO PROVIDED WITHIN THE COURSE. THERE IS NO OBLIGATION TO ATTEND. |
Verification of learning | |
---|---|
THE LEARNING VERIFICATION WILL TAKE PLACE AT THE END OF THE COURSE THROUGH AN ORAL INTERVIEW (DURATION OF APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES) HAVING THE OBJECTIVE OF ASCERTAINING THE ACTUAL ACHIEVEMENT BY THE STUDENT OF THE SET EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES. DURING THE INTERVIEW, THE DISCUSSION OF CASE STUDIES WILL BE USED TO VERIFY THE ABILITY TO APPROACH PROBLEMS EVEN DIFFERENT FROM THOSE ADDRESSED IN THE CLASSROOM. THE FINAL EVALUATION WILL BE EXPRESSED IN THIRTY. THE MINIMUM ASSESSMENT LEVEL (18/30) IS ATTRIBUTED WHEN THE STUDENT HAS A FRAGMENTARY KNOWLEDGE OF THEORETICAL CONTENTS AND SHOWS A LIMITED ABILITY TO USE THEM IN THE STUDY CONTEXT. THE MAXIMUM LEVEL (30/30) IS ATTRIBUTED WHEN THE STUDENT DEMONSTRATES COMPLETE AND IN-DEPTH KNOWLEDGE OF THE METHODOLOGIES AND TOOLS AND HAS A CONSIDERABLE ABILITY TO USE THEM IN THE STUDY CONTEXT. HONOR IS GIVEN WHEN THE CANDIDATE EXPRESSES THEMSELVES USING APPROPRIATE SCIENTIFIC LANGUAGE AND SHOWS INDEPENDENT JUDGMENT AND CAPACITY FOR TRANSVERSE CORRELATION BETWEEN THE TOPICS OF THE COURSE AND/OR WITH OTHER DISCIPLINES. |
