RESEARCH INTERESTS
- 1989-95 Biodegradation of lignin in white-rot basidiomycetes. Cloning and characterization of a laccase (blue copper phenol oxidase) from Pleurotus ostreatus. Biotechnological applications of ligninolytic enzymes in biopulping processes and in biological treatment of phenol rich waste pollutants.
- 1995-97 Molecular mechanisms of the differentiation and of the virulence induction in the dimorfic fungus Histoplasma capsulatum. Differential analysis of gene expression and identification of genes turned on during host invasion.
- 1997-98 Mutational analysis of the heat-shock signal transduction pathway in Saccahromyces cerevisiae.
- 1998- Biochemistry and molecular bases of acute and sub-clinical effects of nutritional deficiencies of copper and iron.
