THIS COURSE IS DESIGNED TO PROVIDE STUDENTS WITH: FUNDAMENTALS OF BIOMOLECULES STRUCTURES AND FUNCTIONS. FUNDAMENTALS OF MAIN METABOLIC PATHWAYS AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL ALSO LEARN THE FUNDAMENTAL MOLECULAR MECHANISMS RELATED TO THE PROPAGATION AND MAINTENANCE OF GENETIC INFORMATION; WILL KNOW THE MOLECULAR MECHANISMS OF GENE EXPRESSION AND ITS REGULATIONS; WILL KNOW THE GENERAL PROCESSES THROUGH WHICH GENETIC INFORMATION IS TRANSMITTED AND EXPRESSED. WILL BE ABLE TO DESCRIBE AND SELECT APPROPRIATE TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE ANALYSIS OF BIOMOLECULAR MECHANISMS AND THE IDENTIFICATION OF MOLECULAR ORIGIN OF THE DISEASE. AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL HAVE THE ABILITY TO APPLY CORRECTLY THE METHODS DESIGNED TO DETECT CLINICAL FINDING, AND LABORATORY TEST, USING CRITICAL INTERPRETATION AND PATHOPHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS. THEY MUST HAVE ALSO THE CAPACITY TO EVALUATE THE RELATIONSHIP COST / BENEFIT IN THE CHOICE OF DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURES, TAKING NOTE OF THE PRINCIPLES OF EVIDENCE-BASED MEDICINE. IN AGREEMENT WITH THE DUBLIN DESCRIPTORS, AT THE END OF THE COURSE THE STUDENT WILL DEMONSTRATE: 1.HAVE REACHED A BASIC KNOWLEDGE AND UNDERSTANDING OF BIOCHEMISTRY THAT ALLOWS HIM TO SET UP THE ANALYSIS OF THE CORRELATIONS BETWEEN THE STRUCTURE OF BIOMOLECULES AND THEIR FUNCTIONS IN PHYSIOLOGICAL AND PATHOLOGICAL CONDITIONS; 2.ABILITY TO ANALYZE, DISCUSS AND PERFORM SIMPLE CORRELATIONS OF DATA OR ASSUMPTIONS; 3.BEING ABLE EVALUATE INDEPENDENTLY ANY DIFFERENT OPINIONS EXIST IN CERTAIN TOPICS TREATED IN THE COURSE; 4.BEING ABLE TO PROPERLY EXPOSE IN ITALIAN AND WITH PROPERTIES OF LANGUAGE KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED; 5.KNOWING HOW TO COMMUNICATE WITH THEIR PEERS IN A CRITICAL MANNER THE THEMES STUDIED AND TO SUPPORT INTERDISCIPLINARY ARGUMENTS. |
Prerequisites | |
